Hurt - what a song!

Jon is the best singer in Bon Jovi. I like Richie's voice, I'm a fan of his singing as well as his guitar playing and song writing abilities.

Apart from Prayer. He can't get high enough in the chorus these days, but he still pulls off live because he lets the audience sing the high parts.

I actually never heard that song, so I cannot judge.

You are really open for new music???
I know a lot of people whos only listening to Bon Jovi because they have heard some of Richies solo stuff,
and I can't event understand how you can be a Bon Jovi fan without owning "Undiscover Soul" and "Stranger in this town", and the Richie solo stuff is also music for all ages. I still have not played Richie to any who didn't like it...

I don't own either of those albums, and I am still a fan. Have been since the 80's. It is all a matter of preference, and Richie just doesn't do it for me either.

Who said I don't own Richie's CDs? Hmmmm? I bought both of his CDs and I've listened to them, SITT more than US. I DO NOT LIKE HIS VOICE. It's as simple as that. It has nothing to do with the music or the lyrics, just his voice which rubs me the wrong way. It's not as if Richie is the only singer whose voice I don't like: Scott Stapp and Michael Bolton come to mind too. I also own David's CDs and I LOVE them.

Even though I do own Richie and David's solo music, I think it's rather narrowminded to say you can't be a Bon Jovi fan and not like/not own the solo stuff. Bon Jovi is the sum of it's parts. Liking Bon Jovi in no way means you'll like listening to Richie sing or like instrumental piano. Not everyone has the money to throw away on a CD that will be of less use to them than a table coaster.

And what does my being open to new music have to do with anything? I listen to Floyd Kramer, Metallica, Montgomery Gentry, Josh Groban.... Chet Atkins and Slipknot are both on my "want list" for Christmas. My taste is all over the map. I'm open to good music, no matter what section of the music store it comes from.

Preferences are related to feelings, taste and perception, far from technical characteristics so that it's nesesary first to limit the context of our opinions. As a die-hard and long time BJ fan I can say that through these years I've heard from people specialized in music, musicians, singers themselves, producers and from my own ears that Richie has the best voice. He never makes a mistake, I mean he never sings or plays out of tune, he hit different notes, and his lungs must be quite bigger than Jon's. When Richie and Jon sing at the same time we can barely hear Jon and that is a fact, nothing to do with which one we prefer.
If we talk about preferences I must say that I prefer Jon's, but this is because of what he makes me feel, he has a very expresive and versatile voice, able to express different kind of feelings, it can be so sweet, aggressive, sarcastic, passionate, naughty, sad, cheerful and so on and that's why we love it so much. Richie is passionate too, but there is something about Jon's.
Tico's voice is extremely sexy, he could be easily a news reader. I like David's too but 3 or 4 songs are not enough for me.
