Yes. I don't think you can compare the general audiences here. The majority of U2 fans or concert goers will be paying for their own tickets and are definitely old enough to go by themselves. A good number of BJ fans are too young to either get into the venue/travel there by themselves or has the money to buy tickets. Middle aged U2 fans have no problem with either. Aside the fact that U2 simply has more fans.

None of this means anything anyway.

and Devil don't diss 'All that you can't leave behind', the new album is only half as good

it's got more to do with your average man who isn't really into either band more likely to want to see u2 than bon jovi.

i only know a handful of people who are really into u2 whereas I know a shitload of people who are going or want to go to these tours.

That's the first time I see someone else shares my opinion.

no no no spunkywho. I liked All That You Can't Leave Behind. It's only that I think it's an easy record to listen. Not that Crush or Bounce aren't but I think they still are a bit more challenging than the last U2 records(that's neither positive nor negative)

Besides, I don't think U2 have more fans than BJ. I am actually sure there are more die-hard BJ fans than U2 fans. Its only U2 seem more mature and peope go to their concert as going to the theater. Part of BJ's audience does the same but there still are people who go to get drunk and have a great night with loads of rock 'n' roll.
Do you get what I am tryin' to say?

I meant 80 000 of course, not 80 million...

Sorry!

yes I get it and agree in general, but I still think U2 have more fans - however broadly you define the term. After all, once you take away all the chicks that go to BJ shows because of Jon, you may not be left with all that many 'die hard fans' Seriously though, as you said yourself, U2 appeals to a much broader audience and therefore have more fans, imo.

Oops...you are absolutely right about that. On the other hand Bono has also masses of groupis(not quite as many as Jon but still an impressive nuber)

I didn't say that U2 appeals to a broader audience. I only say, as I think Sambo-Chris also said, that U2 appeals to more ticket buyers. In general, I think BJ fans are poorer...hahaha.

But seeing the audiences BJ had in the last 10 years, I am sure U2 can only be jealouse.

bon jovi bounce tour 2003 vienna/ ernst happel stadium - 42,000

U2 - upcoming tour 2005 vienna /ernst happel stadium - 55,278 SOLD OUT WITHIN 78 MINUTES
the comparison is quite terrible I know .. BON JOVI is in europe an very popular and safe band to have in a venue to attrack alot of ppl ...BON JOVI is an excellent seller band ! BUT DON'T COMPARE THEM TO U2 U2 sold out 2 france venues in 75 minutes as well and i can tell you that DOING THIS IN FRANCE is incredible ... we are so very narrow minded listening to french stuff only ... very few ppl can do what U2 do here ... Madonna and Robbie Williams sold out their venues within minutes like U2 but it's wasn't as huge venue as U2... Bruce did the Stade de France as well but I am pretty sure it wasn't sold out the day of the show (BUT it was close though) ...U2 is a phenomenon ... ppl love them even without listening to them ... they are respected and adored ... very interesting .... I bought tix for their Paris show and it was TOUGH to get in !!
