Omg, I completely forgot about the Elton remix.... This is one of those rare moments as to why I enjoy coming here.

But having just gone through a project, I agree 100 percent that the remastering involved making them louder. However, they do sound better to my ears.

Blaze and DA both need a remaster. DA more than Blaze.

All other records were really poorly remastered. Pretty much all they did was clear up the mix here and there and make everything louder. A good remaster makes you hear things that were previously burried deep in the mix. No such thing happened with the Bon Jovi remasters. All they did was remove a lot of the dynamics in sound, but louder does not equal better.

Blaze has always suffered from poor mixing. Elton John plays piano and sings backing vocals on a few songs and yet you can barely hear him. If that one would ever be released as a 5.1 mix so we'd be able to hear separate tracks (vocals / guitars) I've a feeling there's stuff buried in there that would spice things up a lot and make it a lot better than it is right now.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
Elton only played and sang on Dying Ain't Much of a Living - you can make out his vocals in the backbround.

Why would Destination Anywhere need a remaster?

Elton plays piano on Billy Get Your Guns as well, which is why I'm saying the record has been mixed poorly. There's things going on which are barely audible.

Sebastiaan

It sounds fine to me, it's held up really well. What would you expect a remaster to change about this?

IMHO it was produced that way on purpose. I love the mix they gave it, the sound lends itself to the subject matter well.

This. I think it has a very atmospheric and consistent sound that really brings out what this record is all about for me. Wouldn't change a thing on it.

Difference of personal taste I suppose. I like a bit more treble and an even amount of bass in my music. DA just sounds a bit low and grainy in places.

Yeah, I always assumed this as well.

A remaster won't fix this. What you want is the album to be mixed differently, but like Captain_jovi says, it was done like this on purpose. It's got a very European pop sound to it, which is probably why it tanked big time in America. It's the perfect mix of Britpop meets Grunge rock with an electronic touch to it. If that music isn't what you tend to listen to then yeah, this album is not for you.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
