I'm all for the overall sound of Destination Anywhere but I do think it can do with a little more clarity and a lot less clipping. The songs will be the same but it would sound a lot punchier.

Also, since reading up about the loudness war about 4 years ago and figured out why my CDs from the 2000's (and a fair few from the 90s) were louder than my 80s ones. I then went back and bought the original, non-remastered Bon Jovi albums and haven't touched the remasters since. The originals just sound much more natural and engaging.

I know exactly what the differences is between remixed and remastered and I think DA sounds like shit on a CD. It sounds muffled when its cranked and I think it could be made clearer.

You are all saying the other remasted albums sound like shit but I don't agree and when I listen to DA next to them, I hear the difference.

I can't see how it is that Destination Anywhere sounds like shit. With some good speakers, DA sounds more than amazing.

No, you don't. If it sounds muffled to you when it's cranked up then that's because they intended to make it sound like this. Would they change this, it'd be a remix, and not a remaster. And to me the album sounds just fine, but again, it all depends on your hifi system, really.

The other remasters sound shit because the dynamics of the old records are gone and replaced by more loudness from the other instruments. Everything sounds loud, and the hiss and other noise has been removed. They took out all noise not meant to be in the mix. That's the difference, and from what you're saying you're not hearing it at all or just aren't getting it.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

A remaster won't fix this. What you want is the album to be mixed differently, but like Captain_jovi says, it was done like this on purpose. It's got a very European pop sound to it, which is probably why it tanked big time in America. It's the perfect mix of Britpop meets Grunge rock with an electronic touch to it. If that music isn't what you tend to listen to then yeah, this album is not for you.

Salaam Aleikum,

I love this album.

Are you saying it's not possible to like an album but not like the way it's recorded?

Which "remasters" are we talking about in this thread? The ones from the late 90s or the more recent ones?

Both, as neither are any good.

I prefered the sound quality of the original version. The remastered sound is tinny.

I don't think there are any outakes for Blaze of Glory. Jon only recorded on other song, 'Levon' for Elton John and Bernie Taupin's Two Rooms album.

Does anyone have more information about this 2013 release?

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/UICY-20459

Was it remastered or simply released in SHM format?

Default Blaze of Glory/Young Guns II Remastered

I think it was just another SHM reissue. Haven't listened to that version myself but it's probably identical to the original disc.

http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/li...Blaze+of+Glory

The readings on this site comparing the 2 versions differ slightly. The 2013 SHM-CD has slightly lower figures than the 1990 CD which would lead me to believe that the new version is slightly louder.
