I mean, if you have an impersonator singing the track then it's not really AI generated at all is it...

The AI Technology works better over a similar voice (like an impersonator) vs. a random studio track.

In other words if you want to have a version of Jon singing One by U2, don't just overlay his voice over Bonos... Find an instrumental version as the first track and then have someone sing it in Jon's voice, then incorporate the AI Technology over that, then blend the two tracks together.

Well thats' what I mean about AI having a long way to go still. If you need an impersonator to sing the song first then what's the point? I just don't get it, and I don't understand why fans would want to hear that, personally...but each to their own.

I am with you, I just don't see the point.

Agreed. At that point you might as well just listen to an impersonator right away and leave the AI out entirely. That way you’d at least still be listening to an actual human performance.

That's exactly the point. No matter how good AI technology will become...I don't want AI generated music. I want to listen to the real thing, a real musician who performs his art. It's scaring how fast and how much Jon's "vision" of the Last Man Standing from Borgata 2003 has become reality.

With the amount of money and high tech studios producers have access to, I also doubt they're doing it the same way people on our level are. Lord knows we're using what they had access to five years ago.

Are you implying that 2020 was "limitless" in terms of them having AI doing the album?

The irony here is that the old guard has been using autotune for a while now (live or in the studio), but still hangs onto that "we are the one guy with an acoustic guitar, the true artist singing from their heart" image, when they make their money being the guys in their 60s miming to tracks other people wrote 40 years ago.

As a result, how many radio listeners are gonna hear much of a difference to purely AI generated music? AI vocal impersonations in, say, 10 years are gonna sound more natural than the vocals on I'm With You.

Music industry has eroded the foundation of music as an art form for long enough, so of course by now it's all just a product. But this has made the artist itself expendable. They were fine with that course while it benefited and served them, now it's suddenly the devil's plaything.

Funny you mention just that. I took the song apart today and found that it wasn't Jon's vocals that were so processed. In the chorus, it's actually Richie's voice that is kinda tied to Jon's on both sides and he is the one sounding like a cheap robot. No friggin' idea why. Had they left it natural, it would've been so much better (bar the wall of sound of course9.
