gav do you take the grille off of the cab or do you just paint right onto it?

Nah, I leave it on the cab. I just lay the cabinet down on it's back and paint on to it from above - it seems easier to do it that way than the traditional 'upright canvas' position because of the irregular texture of the cloth.
