Default "Bon Jovi are the worst band I've ever played alongside" - Billie Joe Armstrong

http://www.noise11.com/news/billie-j...-band-20120913

'Billie Joe Armstrong insists Bon Jovi are the “worst” band he’s ever played alongside.

The Green Day frontman has performed a huge variety of stage shows since the punk band formed in the ’80s. Billie Joe has played with a number of other musicians during his extensive career, and regretfully admits that American rock band Bon Jovi failed to impress him.

“The best is probably The Hives,” he said when asked about his favourite group to perform with. “They’re a great live band.

“The worst? Oh boy, I have to go with Bon Jovi!”'

What a bellend.

yeah - i wonder what the problem is and when he played with them - if it was earlier in their career, say up to maybe 2001 or something when jon was still super beaute, then you could understand that he was maybe just jealous of jbj and that was his problem, or is it deeper. does he think they are fully shit or what - explain yourself boyo i say

perhaps we could help him by making him watch these days live sao paulo 1995

There's a HUGE difference between the average person on the street saying they don't like Bon Jovi music than another professional musician saying that they're a bad live band.

True - but the 2 genres are totally different. I've had the pleasure of seeing Green Day live a few times and Bon Jovi multiple times in the past 17 years and Green Day and way ahead of Bon Jovi live. There's no comparison. So I do think it is purely a genre and very much a political thing. Remember the emphasis on anti-regime on American Idiot? Look at what Bon Jovi has stood for since 2001. Couldn't be poles apart.

That doesn't mean that they're bad musicians though.

And I've seen them both live too, Green Day suck balls compared to Jovi.

exactly! plus, I don't think Billie Joe meant it this way. They asked him about the best and worst.. worst is a very "heavy" word which I don't think describes Bon Jovi.. He just had to mark the top and bottom alongside performance he ever had.. He didn't mean Bon Jovi is the worst band! The journalists always make up words and meanings to swell the things people really say. Don't worry people

they really don't. Listen/watch the live album from Milton Keynes 2006 and see for yourself. I had the pleasure of being in the pit for that one - then the pit last year for BJ at Old Trafford. It's like comparing Man City to Hereford Utd

Then watch Live From London in 96.

If your going to compare one band at their peak in 06, you gotta compare it like for like. Billie Joe actually seems to have borrowed a lot of rock star moves from Jon - hell, they even mixed in Shout. As usual though with a media quote, could also well have been taken out of context.

I'm more interested in when they actually played ALONGSIDE each other. On the same bill at a festival maybe, but sharing the stage?
