Good interview, except I can't stand when he says things like "If I said the same jokes and played the same set lists every night, I'd be bored."
Um, newsflash Jon - You do.

Exactly! But I guess he has to say the "right" things for the casual fans watching!

Interviewer was Richard Wilkins. He's been an entertainment reporter since before I was born. He also rose to infamy on the Colbert Report for informing Australia that Jeff Goldblum had died last year. I think there's footage of him on Youtube somewhere interviewing Jon in the 80s but I haven't got the link.

I've always been of the opinion that a headlining band isn't giving you their money's worth if they don't play a minimum of ninety minutes. If they have more than one opening act, it can include the encore.

I've felt the same, and that makes sense for Bon Jovi or other bands who've been around for 10 or more years. But these younger newer bands usually only have 1 or 2 albums worth of material to sing (or lip sync), and they can't do 20 covers. So Jon isn't totally right, but isn't totally right. But I see where Jon is coming from.

Bands with so little material shouldn't be doing big headlining shows anyway--co-headlining with one or two other "rookie" bands is much smarter.

Bon Jovi was opening for 38 Special when Slippery hit it big. 38 Special actually offered them their headlining slot, but BJ said they'd settle for a little extra playing time.
