Who are you guys trying to kid?

Prayer is in that movie "Rock Star" with Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston. It's also in one of those Wii games that was wildly popular... Guitar Hero maybe? Of course it's well known world-wide!

I'm not saying it's obscure. But it's NOT a song everybody knows the words to. If IML is more popular, do you reckon there's 2 Bon Jovi songs among the top 10 best known tunes ever?

I mean - I might be wrong. But please, if I am, disprove my claims the right way. Not by showing that "the tune is popular" or "among the top 25". I said it's NOT among the top 10 best known tunes (of all time, even) in Europe. If it is, then I'm wrong. Nothing to do with opinions.

But it being #21 of most popular karaoke songs in the UK doesn't prove that - as the article says, there's just one Beatles tune among those 25. And it's NOT Yesterday. Karaoke != everybody knows the song. People also know Happy Birthday, but it's hardly a karaoke favorite.

It's not really a discussion to be honest with you. I can guarantee you if you start the opening tune of Prayer ANYWHERE, people will know the song, guarantee. End of year dances, proms, clubs, football games etc etc If no one knows the lyrics to Prayer, then they have been living on another planet. Most popular and well known song from Bon Jovi hands down.

There is no way these words This ain't a song for the broken hearted are more well known than Tommy used to work on the docks. No way.

IML more popular world wide than Prayer? Lol it's not even close.

Yes, plenty of people will recognise It's My Life, but it doesn't have that legendary status that Prayer has.

I'm 24 and nearly every party I went through during high school and uni had Prayer playing and it went off! Everybody knew most of the words. The same with weddings... Ive been to heaps of weddings (thanks to my big family) and it's the same story. Put It's My Life on at those occasions and it wouldn't get the same reaction.

It's also the same reason why Prayer closes the main encore at most shows. It's the song everyone is waiting for.

ANYWAY! Back on topic, I just saw Jon's response to the video on facebook. Very good to see him do that. It was a nice gesture.

Exactly. Try to go to a wedding or Prom and not hear Prayer. Try to go to a nightclub and not hear it. It's My Life was a huge anthem when it came out, but it hasn't stood the test of time like Prayer has.

My band plays both of them live... we only played IML straight after Prayer ONCE. Doesn't work. Nowhere near the same reaction. Did Always once. Bombed. It's twenty years old and your general public don't remember it, it wasn't an era defining song.

3 years of gigging with this present band and we've tried to get away without playing Prayer once or twice, they won't let it happen. The minute the keys start, it kicks off. People falling over monitors, bog-roll being thrown... It's the only song in the set that has that reaction. The only one that comes close to it in a pub is Sex On Fire.

Now, you're just arguing for the sake of argument. Everybody is telling you how massive of a song Prayer is. If you don't want to believe them, don't.

Apparently, the whole thing was most likely staged. Such a shame...
