You obviously didn't understand the point I was trying to make. I never, never said they a metal band or so, I just said that the pace of a show could be compared to one. When you listen to a Bon Jovi show from the early nineties or late eighties, the pace is just as high as at a Metallica show from that time, it's just a different sort of show. When you listen to one of the shows nowdays, the pace and atmosphere is completely different, because it's got too many pop songs in them.

People need to classify this band into a certain type of music because at the time Bon Jovi were rock/pop they were great, and at the time they're pop/rock they suck. It's a simple as that, and that's why people want to classify this band that way.

I think things would get pretty damn boring if they stuck rigidly to one style of music.

The great thing about this band is that they can do any style and pull it off and always, even at their hardest, are able to keep it open and accesible to a wide audience of music lovers, not just rock fans.
Which is exactly the problem. They can not do any style. The pop songs are weak because they aren't really like the pop music that's in the charts nowadays, but it's certainly no rock music either. Because they want to be accessible to a wide audience of music lovers, they've lost the plot and right direction. You can't please everyone, and Bon Jovi nowadays just seems to be about pleasing the audience they can make the most money of instead of making the great music that made them this big.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
