I tell them that their music sucks all the time and they just don't care. .
If a teacher told me that my taste in music sucks, am I supposed to give a rats ***? I'd probably just roll my eyes.

Edited to add: No offence to you or anything like that, just a typical teenage response.

It's done in a joking, bustin chops type of way. And I don't literally say 'your music sucks'. But this has nothing to do with my point anyway. My point is, 18 year olds as a whole don't listen to rock n roll or give a shit about it.

Telling the kids that their taste in music is shitty and showing them 80's rock is not going to engage them one bit. They probably see you as a dinosaur.

Acts like Foo Fighters, Muse, Greenday, The Killers, Coldplay, Kings Of Leon are selling out stadiums around the world. I know most of those acts aren't worthy of stadium shows but it goes to show that people still like seeing bands perform live.

At the moment there isn't a young rock scene as such and where there is most people are listening to older stuff i.e Classic rock or grunge. I almost don't blame kids nowadays for not being interested in rock music. The rock world is crying out for something radical, something that will change young people's lives.

Again, it's just a joke. Me making kids watch Bon Jovi videos from the 80's is funny. I'm not trying to change their views because I don't care enough to do so. The problem is much bigger than me and the 5 students I'm bustin chops with.

This is exactly it! I couldn't agree more. We need the next big social movement to produce something big in the art of rock music.

But this also goes hand in hand with Bon Jovi failing to produce a radio hit too. Yes, their newer music has been under par but so has the overall rock scene.

Is Imagine Dragons really rock though? Doesn't seem like it to me.

I thought they were U2 when I heard that first main single - Radioactive... They would fit in nicely with the bands of the 90's.

Do they rock or are they a rock band under the traditional sense? Absolutely Not!

I question other bands like FUN under the umbrella too. There are also other Rock Bands out today that are too manufactured. Like Daughtry. He was some kid on American Idol. I want something real, like GnR.

I want loud drums, a guitar solo, and a crazy ass wild but cool lead singer.
