Interesting band line up, don't you think?

Bon Jovi Offers a Gimmick With New Album

You would think that the group Bon Jovi and lead singer Jon Bon Jovi would be so hot after starring in the NFL season kick off show that they wouldn’t need to come up with any gimmicks to hype their upcoming album and concert tour, but you would apparently be wrong. To help push the sales of the album "Bounce," due out Oct. 8, they will include a way that consumers can also get a head start on buying tickets for the concert tour as well, reports Billboard.com.

Inside each copy of the album will be a special code and information on how to register at the web site Bonjovi.com so that they can be the first to buy concert tickets. Those tickets will also be on sale to the general public by the end of October.

When the buyer registers, they will also get other things, including downloads of music that is not included in the album and information on how to enter contests. It is designed to give added value to the new CD and reward loyal fans.

There are no dates set yet for the Bon Jovi concerts. However, the group has said that it will play on Sept. 18 at a club in London.

The group Bon Jovi, fronted by lead singer Jon Bon Jovi (who is also an actor), was formed in New Jersey in 1983. It also includes Richie Sambora, David Bryan, Hugh McDonald, Alec John Such, Tico Torres and Dave "The Snake" Sabo.

Lol - I read this one on backstage.

I think they have missed the point though. The 'gimmick' is in defence of the internet & a way of retaining sales when so many r being lost to ppl just downloading the songs & then not bothering buying the album.

Without "The Snake" though, BJ would quite literally be nothing

A gimmick? Well, maybe, but I commend them for this one. People get on bands like Bon Jovi for not getting into the whole web scene and give this as the reason why the lose so many sales to P2P services. Now when they get a little more web-conscious, people are going to say it's a gimmick. As Bruce Springsteen said on an interview, we're in a transition phase right now. Artists have to find a way to get paid for their work and provide easy access for the fans at the same time. I think this is a great way to do just that. I wouldn't be too surprised to see more artists take this approach. Plus it benefits us because we get new music.

What we're seeing right now is a more web-savvy Bon Jovi. I can't see any problem with that.

Am I the only one panicking because tour dates are going to be announced, according to this article, within the next two months? Erm...my Bon Jovi savings account only has $50 in it. Boy, I hope they wait for the spring!

I think any time an artist offers an enhanced cd or some added bonus it will sell more. Also, I think that most bands do it to reward the people who would buy the albums anyways.

I got an email today from BJ.com saying that they are going to send me a free BJ slip of some kind , and a form to fill in to entry me into the free draw for the cinema showing of Shepherds Bush live. Not a bad gimmick so far

Dave "the snake" Sabo is in Skid Row. I think!
Didn't he play lead guitar with Bon Jovi for a very short while before Richie joined?
