i didnt think that the CMAs or whomever was in charge did a good job of getting the message across of why bon jovi was there and that there is a new single coming to country radio with bon jovi and jennifer. it was like sugarland played (badly) and then they said 'oh, and from new jersey, here's bon jovi" and then jennifer walks out in the middle of the song and sings with them. people who dont know about the single are gonna be like 'why was bon jovi playing at the country awards and why did the sugarland chick come out and mess them up?'
as becky said, keith urban didnt sound good either. his voice cracked some and in other parts he simply couldnt hit the notes. maybe he's sick.
alison krauss and union station had sound difficulties, but they overcame it and sounded awesome as always. they were by far the most talented group there.
overall i thought the show was poorly done.
I totally agree with you, Wolfgang. My roommates were watching the awards (in between breaks in the hockey game) and couldn't understand why Bon Jovi was there. When Jennifer Nettles starting singing, they were even more confused, until I played the song for them.

I am a fan of country music, but now I remember why I didn't watch the CMA's last year. I thought quite a few of the performances were incredibly boring and drawn out. Was I the only one who thought the "duet" with Paul Simon and Willie Nelson was horrible? They weren't even singing in the same tune or at the same time!

I didnt think their performance was as good as it was earlier. They didnt seem like they were having fun together and not as comfortable as on Crossroads, maybe because of that audience. Since it was made known earlier by Leeann Womack and some others that the rock stars did not belong there, it may have made a difference. Then "Miss Womack" had to make her stupid little speech about country music, I took it as trying to sway people from rock to country. I think Jennifer Nettles is great and I think she and Jon really complement each other. I hope they will do other things together. I agree about the confusion, they should have waited until Jennifer was on stage and then introduced them. I did not think Jon looked as good as usual. We thought he looked pale and tired, but it may have been the lights. Both of the other "rock/country" duos did absolutely terrible I thought.

Ew! She better not be gay damn it. If I had a chance with her, I'd change that!

Then she [Leeann Womack] would no doubt spew to hear The Eagles always referred to as a 'country/rock' band in Australia. Wonder if she likes Keith Urban's music???...fairly 'rocky' edge in his country music.

You know what they say...'those who can, do...those who can't, criticise'

Jennifer Nettles is not gay, Ryan. She is, however, married. So you still don't have a chance with her!

Just seen it on BBC 2 in the UK. I thought it was awful although unlike most I haven't heard the duet version before. Is that how bad Jon's sounding on tour? I hope he's in better voice next summer.

no but you're showing yourself to be just as stupid. this is the COUNTRY music association awards. jennifer nettles is the lead singer of a country band called 'sugarland'. she recorded a country version of the song 'who says you can't go home', which appeared on the US release of 'have a nice day' and which will be distributed to country radio stations for airplay. does it not strike you as fitting that they woud play that song given all of the above?
