Jeez! I know they play RYH faster than the album version (which is ridiculously slow) but that is ridiculous. I've never heard them sound so bad.

They sound like a garage band there.

The Firework exploding at the beginning of RYH cracks me up. So Spinal Tap

I agree. It's also ridiculous how many times I used the word "ridiculous" in my last post!

Those were the good old days, when Jon still talked with the audience. He's not high, that's the way he was at every show and I very much doubt he spent the 80s drugged up. I'm sure Richie and others did their fair share, but I'm pretty sure Jon gave it up early on.

I think he was high on something that night, he seems disorientated. Maybe it was a side effect of the steroids for his throat.

I agree that he would have never have spent any prolonged period of time on drugs. His head seemed pretty screwed on.

Thats how BJ shows were in the 80s. 100mph from the start, especially on the SWW tour. If you think his voice is shot on that video you should have heard him at donington a month later. God knows how he made it through that show.
As for the raps they were also a part of the 80s,talking jibberish for ages but make sure you namecheck the town youre playing in at the same time. Anyone remember the speeches he used to make during Blood on Blood?

This 3 minute talking actually wasn't much on the SWW tour. During one show at Nassau Coliseum, e.g. Jon talked for nearly 10 minutes before kicking into Bad Name. If he did that nowadays, no one would need to take his pee break during the songs

At a show it can sometimes be hard to tell who's ****ed up on drugs and just high on adrenaline - and Jon always looked high on that in the 80's from what I've seen.

I like the way you said it. Couldnīt agree more. Thatīs how they were those days. 100mph indeed.
The voice problems Jon had during the SWW tour were sometimes dramatic. Thereīs been a lot of criticism over his voice nowadays but I actually think his singing has evolved a lot during the decades. Itīs a lot more economical nowadays. Singing in a lower key or not being able to hit the highest notes is far better than not being able to sing at all (as it almost was the case during some parts of the SWW tour).
