Perhaps John Shanks is trying to mimic Steve Van Zandt... I dunno man, Jon sounds tired and out of breath, now more than ever. Forget the 'can't hit the high notes anymore' thing. He sounds like he's constantly struggling to breathe, let alone sing. Give it a rest already man, put an end to Bon Jovi and concentrate on a solo career. I think he'd sound amazing singing in lower registers like so many of his heroes (Leonard Cohen for example).

The fact that he's always had a powerful voice (well, up until the early 2000s, with some exceptions along the way) is, in itself, a burden for his career, IMO. People except him to scream his balls off but the poor guy is struggling to even breathe correctly when singing. No need to criticize him anymore, he's lost his voice, period.
