No doubt about it, the standards of the band plummeted to record lows tonight.

They've been known to be the band that sets the bar in previous years, but this time they've lowered themselves so far I don't think anyone can beat them!

Think everyone is totally overreacting on this, who gives a **** if it wasnt "live"

Better bands have mimed and get away with it. Some one said they wouldn't of done this years ago. I got umpteen live performances from uk TV from 86-2000 and yes 70% was mimed ( BTBMB anybody TOTP 88 ), that was unbelievably bad.

Stop ****in Whingin folks

The main point annoyance is the band performing with a bunch of talent show contestants.

You'd never catch U2 or The Stones doing that.

But mimed/lip-synched performances are linked to Madonna, Britney, Black Eyed Peas etc. basically acts where it's "expected" of them because of the energy being in the "performance".

Also, in the 80's-90s it was classed as somewhat acceptable (until acts got blatantly caught out on TOTP).

Bon Jovi are reknowned for their live performances!

To be honest though, for me it's got nothing to do with whether or not it was live.
Where they have lowered themselves is the fact that they sang with the X-factor wannabes - a bunch of people with very little talent who want fame in any way they can get it. A bunch of people who have NO hope of having a successful career......

None of them are worthy to even wire up Richie's mic!

THAT's where my issue lies.

Bon Jovi "died" after numerous performances they have done over the last few years. Their promo appearances have been horrible but let's face it, it won't hurt them where they care the most: the tour and sales from tickets.

Pretty sure U2 have done shows like this? Stones would never do it i agree. But it makes me laugh cause folk always so the promo is shit blah blah blah and then when they do it they moan its shit. To be honest i have never watched the xfactor until tonight, but I do know they will hit a audience of about 20 million folk watching at home, and no other show like that would attract that kind of figure, so i can see why they do it.

Playback surely, but Jon sounded live to me?

Anyway, any press is good press. At least they probably made some of the contestants lives right there tonight.
