Nope U2 never did a show like this.

Even my mum text me and said it was poor - so it must have been as she loves jbj.
What annoys me is they are in front of 12-15 million people on the eve of GH2 and they do that kind of performance. Shocking.

Anyway, any press is good press. At least they probably made some of the contestants lives right there tonight.
Most of the contestants don't even know who BJ are!
Summed it all up when Dermot asked Mary & Wagner how it felt to be out there with Bon Jovi - he had to ask the 2 oldest contestants...... so cliched

The better option would have been to just perform What Do You Got and keep away from the contestants. Nothing wrong with getting some promotion in, but that must have been embarassing for the guys.

Dermot is a fan himself (look at the way he high fived Richie last year and said he'd always wanted to do that) he probably asked Wagner and Mary because they can actually appreciate how big Jovi are?

As for u2, they would have played some cheesy gig in the pretence that it was going to save Africa from aids instead!!

I don't have any qualms with a band appearing on any TV show except these horrible manipulative Pop Idol / X Factor freak shows.

Simon Cowell is the devil.

Jon doesn't sing the high bits in LOAP anymore,he gets the audience to do it live, and he couldn't hit that note tonight. he then let the contestants sing the rest of the high notes at the end. The whole thing was lacking in energy - so very disappointing. No WDYG either?
