I thought Jon was live tbh, only thing wrong with it was Richie's make up.

I think exactly the same I liked the performance, Jon's vocals and I think he looked OK (some people found him to look tired but I have not noticed it). But Richie's make up was grrrrr.... The make up designer ought to be sentenced for 10 years in prison lest she/he does another make up like this to some body else

If they mimed then that's pretty poor. I can't stand it when people mime, it shoudl be live, always. Band included. Nothing at all should be pre taped.

That's not possible on 90% of TV shows, how hard is this for people to understand?

I don't know why people thought it was mimed - Jon's vocals were awful!

They just did what they've always done and played a backing track with live vocals.

The fact that the X-Factor contestants' mics were off at the end when asked about the performance was because they were only turned on when they were needed for vocals, ie. during the choruses.

You can instantly hear the mics were turned up for the choruses and then muted throughout the rest of the song. When you have two dozen people on stage with mics, the odds are people are going to sing when they're not wanted to and you wouldn't hear Jon (not necessarily a bad thing given his voice on Saturday).

Awful performance and Jon was obviously in one of his 'unchatty moods' to boot. Given the fact that I really don't like the X-Factor anyway, it was funny to see the band treat it with the (dis)respect it deserves but at the same time, they are promoting the big release of their GH so you'd have expected them to put a bit of effort in for the cameras even if it was only for their own personal gain.

Thought Jon looked pretty embarassed when I watched it last night, I'm pretty sure if it was up to him they'd have performed the new song. The interview in the Observer announced they'd be doing What Do You Got. I'm not sure when Jamaroquai was added to the bill, I have a feeling perhaps Bon Jovi were originally intending to do the new song in that slot?

When I watched it back, it didn't look so bad, Jon just always looks kind of peeved on the telly.

Watched again with the mrs this morning....

I guess it wasn't quite as bad as initially made it out to be, but it was still a lowering of their standards.
I don't really care that Jon sang live to a backing track, but it's the contestant involvement that really grates with me. It was a bad case of karaoke.

I'm sure it will shift a few more copies of the album though.
Sticking with "promotion", not a single mention of the album in today's Metro. No adverts anywhere (unlike Cheryl's on the page cover) and it wasn't listed in the album reviews either.

Basically, if you didn't watch X-factor, you'd probably not know it was out.

All these promos are decided by record co though Band has some input to it
To a casual fan the performance was not bad You can't get promo in UK than this due to the fact a large no of people watch Xfactor in UK

Problem for me was that they were playing to an audience of maybe 12 or 13 million. How many people were Jovi fans? - not many.

This was a chance to show the people at home what they were about.
They should have done a classic - without the Xfactor mob making it cheesy and cringey.
People at home who are not a fan would be thinking "I remember Bon Jovi - they had a hit with prayer, bad name etc - didnt know they wre still going"
Then they would have seen the band belt out a classic tune.

Then they would have heard JBJ say they had a GH out today and maybe they would have bought it.

It only needs 0.5% of that audience to buy the album and the band will have a no1 album. It works for Cheryl Cole. Add that 0.5% of non fan purchases to the usual die hards purchases and you are looking at maybe 100,000 units shifted.

Jovi missed a trick here. Now the non fan thinks "Bon Jovi? Oh yeah I remember them - I wonder what they are like? Oh dear. That was shit."

It was good performance. Better than WWBTF last year. Jon sounds good and I like the idea with all this singing people.
