Bon Jovi sings to raise funds
Saturday, June 04, 2005
A summer concert appearance in New Jersey by Jon Bon Jovi usually means a Giants Stadium show with his Bon Jovi band. Or at least an arena or amphitheater gig.
But he will perform solo, in a substantially smaller venue -- Red Bank's 300-seat Two River Theater -- on July 11.
The show, which will feature music as well as a question-and-answer session, will benefit the theater's educational programs. "This facility is here to showcase and inspire that next generation," said Bon Jovi in a statement. "With the help of the Two River community, I hope to help raise the funds to facilitate Two River Theater's wonderful programming for children."
Bon Jovi, 43, lives with his wife Dorothea and their four children.
Tickets, $500, were still available at press time. Call (732) 345-1400, ext. 810.
The theater officially opened in early May with a production of the play "You Can't Take It With You" after presenting another unplugged concert, by Bruce Springsteen, in April. Springsteen's performance was taped for a VH1 special. Jon and Dorothea also hosted a fund-raising gala for the theater in April.
