Anyway, I actually consider the title track one of their best (#5 in my top BJ songs) and I love This Ain't A Love Song (which is MUCH better than Always) as well as Something For The Pain (Ironically, a song that many people consider the worst in this album because JBJ hates it, whatever ). If That's What It Takes and Heart Breaking Even are pretty good songs. I can tolerate Hey God and Lie To Me, they're ok. The rest, to me, I classify as ****ing horrible.

I don't think as an album it's as strong as the holy trinity of SWW/NJ/KTF. Not even close. The reaction I got from not liking this album is the same reaction that I got from not liking Slang in Def Leppard boards or not liking AMOLAD in Iron Maiden boards. People think I hate change/experiments. I am not against experimenting but experiments can go wrong. Similarly, I am not against change as KTF is a change from NJ/SWW but it's still a great album.

Ever since this album, I accepted the fact that they'll never create a solid album front to back like SWW/NJ/KTF but there is always a few songs in each album that are keepers, so that's why I keep buying their albums (except OWN which is a sorry excuse of a live album - and it has that dumb Something To Believe In! and TLFR, which is the 3rd worst album from a major rock band after St Anger and AMOLAD).

Typically fanbois/girls show mad love in their favorite bands' message boards for those albums that are different and don't sell as much as the most popular albums of <insert band name here>. It's always "oh people don't appreciate the art of this <insert poor selling album here>", "people don't understand the band's need to change", "this is the band's best effort" , "We don't want a rewrite of <insert an awesome album here>", or my favorite "Give it a few more spins, it's a grower" (which really means the songs are lacking hooks and aren't memorable at all) yada yada yada yada.

I beg to differ. I like what I like, and I hate what I hate. If I spend my hard earned cash on buying an album (which directly means I'm supporting the band), I deserve to praise or shit on it as much as I can after listening to it.

If I were to rank their albums (excluding Crossroad, OWN, TLFR and the box set) it will be like this:
1. NJ
2. KTF
3. SWW
4. Crush
5. HAND
6. S/T
7. TD
8. LH
9. Bounce
10. 7800

And if I were to rank their songs (including B-sides):

1. Livin On A Prayer
2. In These Arms
3. Blood On Blood
4. I'll Be There For You
5. These Days
6. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
7. Have A Nice Day
8. Keep The Faith
9. Bed Of Roses
10. Just Older
11. Runaway
12. Born To Be My Baby
13. I'd Die For You
14. Starting All Over Again
15. Radio Saved My Life Tonight
16. It's My Life
17. Never Say Goodbye
18. Wild In The Streets
19. This Ain't A Love Song
20. I Love This Town
Congratulations! I totally don't agree with you!

There isn't a song on These Days I don't like but that's just me. I can't really explain it, I just connect with it more than any other album by any artist. Sounds great every time I listen to it, unlike certain Jovi tracks where there is a certain time/place/mood.

My favorite song is still Prayer because it has the greatest hook of all rock music.
The thing with ITA is, I never heard it live, that's why I always post about it. On the other hand I know I'll be getting Prayer everytime I go to a BJ show.

I don't understand why you would like to hear ITA so much. I mean it's crap lately.

It would be more understandable for me if you said that you'd like to hear ITA in the nineties, since it was the last time that it was played properly.

The simple answer is, I have never experienced it live, that's why.

I mean, it's given that Jon doesn't sing as well as he did during the KTF tour, he's getting older, that's normal, but I still would like to hear it live, no matter how "crappy" it is compared to the good old days. I'll take ITA even with that clown Banditera "soloing".

I would be able to stomach a show with > 8 new songs, or a show with Something To Believe In, Diamond Ring, My Guitar Lies Bleeding and Letting You Go as long as I hear ITA in the same show.

These Days, Blood On Blood, Dry County, stuff like that won't sound as good now as back in the day, but if these songs are played live, I think it will be better than hearing songs that Jon can pull off well, like, oh Captain Crash, or maybe Misunderstood (not that I hate these songs but they aren't Dry County or BOB).

These songs would give me multiple orgasms if they are played the shows I am going to!

I'm very suprised that you dislike most of the These Days songs so much .

Aloha !

I will make sure I'm not standing next to Thierry whenever a song from These Days is played. Yuk!

Sebastiaan

i like These Days but I can understand why people dont - there is no flow to it
you have a thumping track like Hey God followed by the slowish SFTP then TAALS then the title track.
This is followed by LTM so out of the 1st 5 songs only 1 rocks - the rest are slow to just bobbing along.
I remember the album getting 2/10 in a mag saying the album had too many slow songs - not ballads - just slow songs and to be fair they are right.
I like it but its not in the same league as New Jersey.
