I think that's because I had such a high expectation of that album. I heard the title track live before the album was released and it was so awesome that I thought the album must be greater than KTF and NJ combined.
It wasn't. It was a total letdown for me. I wasn't fond at all with the songs I mentioned above. Plus All I Want Is Everything - I swear everytime the prechorus comes in "Tell me what you want", my answer is "I want you to STFU and stop singing, this song sucks balls". The 1-2 punch of My Guitar Lies Bleeding and Letting You Go are the best sleep aid ever. I don't recall any other BJ album that has two consecutive ultra-boring-sleep-inducing songs. Well maybe the 2nd half of LH before ILTT can give it some competition.
This is also the album that I listened front to back multiple times, because I wanted to try to like it. But I failed. And since then I learned, if a song is supposed to be a "grower", it sucks.
Again, I love tracks 2, 3 and 4 a lot. Hey God, Hearts Breaking Even and What It Takes are pretty cool, but as a whole, the album disappointed me big time.
