Bon Jovi & Sugarland

I'm new to your board, and just wondered how you all felt about the duet between these two, since I'm not seeing any posts about their Crossroads concert.

Personally, I thought they would be touring together. I've yet to see such a magical connection between two artists. Can't stop watching that DVD as it lifts my spirit as they lift each other. When he said "Joniffer", I thought for sure they'd match up.

Anyone seen this performance, and do you think they'll ever do another one?

I thought the show was terrible, lots of fake smiles from Jon whenever the camera was on him, and Jennifer Nettles totally blew Jon away during Livin' On A Prayer and It's My Life.

Besides that, I just don't dig all the laughing, shaking bums and giving high fives while they never do that on stage while being on tour, Jon most of the time is in a crap mood, which is why it makes it all feel so superficial and well, fake to me. I can understand that the casual watcher won't notice such things, but the entire show felt like Jon was acting his way through it, was acting like a frontman, instead of being a frontman.

They will do another one with whatever artist is hot at that time, and if it's of any interest to them, meaning that if it'll help them boost more sales.

Well, that concert was over a year ago so there isn't much discussion about it anymore. I liked the show alot and thought they sang well together, but I don't think they'll do it again. That was a one time deal. Now they teamed up with Leanne Rimes and Big and Rich on LH. I think they like to try duets with different people and change it up a bit.

Seb, how do you know Jon's moods?

I was at the taping so I got to see everything NOT on TV, and he wasn't in a crap mood at all, but more nervous then anything because he knew he was singing songs, (the Sugarland ones) that he wasn't used to singing. When the camera was off he was normally coaching Jennifer on the Bon Jovi songs as she was just as nervous as him. And he stayed out and signed autographs after the taping was over.

And since when don't Richie and Jon joke and high five, bump knuckles, etc, at shows?

Supersonic is right regarding Jon's mood. A pal of mine was at the recordings and she also said, he was nice when the cameras were on. When the camera wasn't recording, he showed his real mood. And she is a huge Jon-fan and for sure doesn't critisise him if it wans't true.

I personally don't care for Sugarland, I'm not a fan of country music. And here in Europe the recordings weren't popular. Neither was the duet on the CD nor was the video or the Crossroad show shown on TV.

Yeah but the Jon off camera is Jon.. he has said you would think his main mood is predominately crabby.. but it's not always the case it's just he has all these things on his mind he is thinking about.

People always get disappointed at sound checks etc because Jon doesn't smile or wave etc. But anyone knows that Jon takes the work part pretty serious and generally isn't all smiles and cheers then.

But it was the case at this night. He was in a crap mood and showed it the audience, the film crew and the Sugarlands. Everything was fine while the camera was on. But I'm not surprised Sugarland won't tour with them in the future. I wouldn't after this experience with this Jon.

Deb, I'm so glad you're here to set the record straight. You witnessed the whole taping, more than others can say with their opinions. Thanks for the info.

I guess its all subjective. Different people see different things. Jon to me always seems serious when off stage. He isn't into being all chirpy.. its just get down to business mode. I think people expect onstage Jon all the time and when he is not that it gets put down to being a crap mood. Of course other times he probably simply is in a crap mood and doesn't hide it.
