"Johnny Lightening" came from the record company. Jon was mortified at the thought of it. LOL I think they were trying to go with a John Cougar (Mellancamp) type thing.

Oddly enough, years later, they signed a band called The Blondz (I think) and used the names Johnny Lightening and JT Thunder for the lead singer and guitarist.

Well, I like the name but I think Arash is right. Too many people refer to the name Bon Jovi as if it was not band but the singer...

I dislike the name because its the name of the singer, and people usually identify the name only with him.

The Samboras would be a cool name

I think Bon Jovi sounds really cool, just like Whitesnake etc.
You know, another band which seems to do the same is Dokken, since the band is named after singer Don Dokken.
