Looks like they played It's My life and HAND at the awards. Melissa Etheridge introduced them, which is very cool, she's a great performer.
Seb whats up with you? Why wouldn't the band play at the awards?? They were being given an award for their accomplishments. 100 million records is a big deal, they should be proud of it.
Oh and as for the publicity, well that's called marketing and exposure Every band does this to promote new music. I just don't see what your issue is here.

Because Jon and co. have always been saying that they don't care about the awardshows, they think it's stupid and that it's not about the quality of music but about the popularity. But now, "suddenly" after they've sold 100 million records, it's a good thing to do?

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

It's sudenly a good thing to do when they have a new record coming out about a week or so after the awards are televised.

I think you've taken the statement that awards don't matter out of context Seb. I think what the guys meant and mean is that awards are not the point of nor the reason that they continue making records. However, the awards they have gotten recently are achievement awards not "you had the best single this year" or "you made the best album" award. The band has a right to be proud of this accomplishment, and why not get the free publicity for the new record while your at it??
I think the band thinks awards are fine a fun night out a chance to see people you don't see all the time etc...
Plus for this band who has defied the critics and sometimes the industry itself by continuing to be so successful I imagine there's a bit of jersey in your face This is sweet pride going on in BJ world these days.

Remember they didn't politic for these last two awards they were bestowed on them by others. What are they supposed to do Not show up???

Dude, why shouldn't they accept awards? Everyone does. I know there was that thing in the 80's where they didn't accept it, but that was because they hadn't been going for long enough, as you well know. Why should they respond with a '**** you' if someone compliments them?

I think that the WMA's can be really cool to watch this year. Kinda curious about what Jon said in his speech. And I really hope they played some other song that IML and HAND...

Well I would think they definetly played HAND would be kinda silly if they didnt since it is the new single.

IML & HAND sounds a bout right to me.

Well I just seen them perform HAND. I dont know if they played anything else, but thats the only song they shown. We didnt even get to see the band accept the award. The performance was ok. It didnt rock as much as what I thought it would and you can still tell Jons voice is weak. Stil great to see anyway
