They definitely don't seem to do as much promo these days. Partly that is because the amount of music shows or outlets have decreased and also the type of shows that Jovi will fit in on will have decreased. But if they want the singles/albums to do well they should bust their asses to get on every show possible, they can't complain the stuff don't sell if they don't put in the legwork. Just having Jon do a few lame interviews doesn't cut it.

But....they're Bon Jovi. They're legendary. There's no such need for promo, they should just sell on their name/brand/back catalog alone...at least in the eyes of those who are making critical decisions these days.

Plus, theses guys clearly don't wanna put the extra effort into it. I think they would rather spend the time with their families (not entirely wrong) than traveling more to promo.

On Jon's defense, he has been rather creative with his choice of promo's since the Bounce cycle. Only problem is that it's predominantly in the US that they do this. Bon Jovi is a global band, they sell more than half of their tickets verseas with half the amount of shows, they've lost a bit of touch with their global audience (which they seem to want to regain with this tour mind you). The NBC thing didn't work in their favor but at least they were trying something new instead of sticking to the same old same old. Maybe in 3 years time if they release a new album they'll get the promo stick right, or maybe by then they'll stop giving a fvck and just concentrate on making a great album and touring it for a year.....
