if you look at the album sales (after crush and upwards) the ticket sales are far more than album sales.
no album in the uk since crush has sold more than 200,000 - 2 nights at milton keynes alone are 130,000 tickets and thats without the other stadiums on the tour.
I also notice the old songs are far better received by the crowd than anything new.
That said - i think they should open the UK shows with "We got it going on"
I dont think you can class BJ as nostalgia when they ahve clearly had a top 10 hit with LH as an album.

Regarding the album sale figures havent most album sales in general been poorer since the introduction of internet downloading etc so this is a factor.

Im not keen on song we got it going on.. .but it would make an apt opening.

They definitely haven't done the PR that they should have done over here . I can remember when Hand was about to come out and they had posters everywhere , on bus stands everything but not this time .

I figure he means that they won't keep going if they're not making new music

regarding album sales - i think people would rather see Jovi live than buy a new album.
the tickets vs album sales prove that.

I used to work for Universal/Mercury so I know how bad the promo for Jovi is.
They know that the album sales are dwinderling (whose aint?) but also know they will make thier money on touring - BJ are only a handful of bands who sell out stadiums in a minute (as per twickenham!!).
Also why is it when the average U2 release an album - its everywhere - you cant go anywhere without knowing they (U2) have an album out - yet when it comes to Jovi people are finding out 6 months later. Yes the hard core know the album is out but maybe some people who like some of their stuff dont.
I think Jovi need to sack the promo guy at the label and get someone new in
Twickenham tickets are still on sale for both nights - as are all the other dates.
Also, none of the dates last year sold out!
They could do with a big hit even to boost concert ticket sales.

The singles charts themselves are a mess. However, can you think of any mega-selling album that has been released in this decade that hasn't had at least one single from it that has been played to death?!

It's not about getting to Number 1, it's about getting the songs on the radio in order to get the album selling.
Until the band can find another killer single like Always or It's My Life, their albums will continue to bomb. And therefore they will continue to head ever closer to being a nostalgia act.

And please - the download argument is just a poor excuse - other albums in recent years have sold 10 million copies+ so it is still possible.

What albums are these? According to the quick bit of research I just did, no albums released from 2004 onwards (the year that downloading really took off I reckons) have sold 10 million worldwide as of yet ... and no album in the last 5 years has sold more than 3 million in the UK

Well sure, with an album there's loads of different things you could do ... download it either legally or illegally, copy it from someone, just buy the singles off it, just download certain songs, leave it til more singles come out from it and then decide to buy it (I used to have this rule where I wouldn't buy an album unless there were at least 2 songs I knew I liked on it, or if it was from an artist I already had albums by ... not anymore though) etc. etc.

Whereas, with concert tickets, you have one choice: buy a ticket or don't. If you don't, chances are it will be sold out if and when you change your mind. So people are more likely to impulse buy tickets. They'll also buy multiple ones in the hope of getting other people to come with them ... you don't usually see people buying multiple copies of CDs to sell to all their friends

Easy answer: the song's bad. Jovi is really bad these days. Sad to be said, but that is my opinion. Quite a tragedy, that the best f*ckin band in the world would turn up like this.

Since when has the quality of a song ever had anything to do with its chart placing? Its a very simple formula that the record label don't seem to get ... promo = sales
