I have to agree with you, the promo is dreadful and whatever the quality of a song, if no-one knows it's in the shops, no-one will buy it. Singles aren't put in a prominent (prominant?!) place in music shops nowadays, so it's not as if anyone will find the single by serendipity.

I had no idea the single was out, it was by chance I found out when the album came out... I wouldn't have thought it would take much to keep an up-to-date website at least giving release dates (if nothing else). I cannot believe the state of the UK promotion- this year it really has been piss poor.

Maybe I'm old fashioned.

i think we have to be honest with ourselves and say although jovi are a great band they are not as strong songs wise as they once were.
IMO the debut album to These days are the strongest then everything after is weaker.
this isnt becuase they cant right songs anymore but up until These days they wanted to prove to everyone they were a great band - they have done that now and have now started making music they want to - hence the country theme.
Id also like to know why Bon Jovi never get ANY recognition despite being one of the biggest bands in the world? yet u2, coldplay etc are everywhere once an album is released or in the 100 greatest albums of all time lists? cant all be about the promotions.

A couple of telly appearances does not a hit single make. The record company must get the song player heavily on radio and the music TV channels. Why it isnt I dont know? They seem to focus to narrowly on specific performances/stations/shows. They should have the video getting played on The Box/The Hits/Smash Hits. And not just VH1 or Bliss or something. As well as lots of radio play- I think Radio 1 seems to be a dead loss, but they are ok on Radio 2, but they need good play on commercial radio too. Virgin play the new stuff occasionally. They should be on Heart, Magic and Capital too- and other equivalent commerical stations around the country.

That's very true. And also there's a lot of fashion in music, popular music these days seems to be only those mass-produced timbaland/one republic/kayne west/alicia keys/etc-crap.
And the rock these days also has this mass-prodiction feeling, you know, when all the bands and singers sound exactly the same. And that's perhaps my greatest fear, that Jovi will fall into (or actually have fallen into) this everybody-sound-the-same-because-it-sell mentality. Going country-ish can't be of no other reason than that Jon thought it would be a massive success, after WSYCGH. Cos I can hardly believe this is really the music they want to make, and I hope I'm not mistaken.

The record company dosen't decide who or where the singles are played. All they can do is distribute the single, then it's up to the stations to decide if the song fits into their 'playlist'. obiviously they've pretty much all decided that 'Country-style' Bon Jovi, isn't for them! Even Virgin, which is pretty much the only station that used to be relied upon to play Bon jovi!

James Blunt sold 12 million copies of his album (yuk). The most recent albums from Green Day, The Chillies, Coldplay and probably U2 have all sold close to 10 mill if not more. I realise it's not a regular occurrance these days, but the fact Bon Jovi have only sold around 3-5 million copies of Bounce, HAND and LH is a big drop-down from their previous albums and it's certainly not all down to downloads!

Hmmm, you're right, apologies. The thing I looked at didn't have any of those on the list for some reason
