IF you don't know why something is bad, then how can you say it's bad? You can apreciate something without liking it. I'm not saying it has to be technically brilliant, to make a song good, but I am saying to make a statement that a song is good, you have to justify this claim..

If you don't know why you like or dislike a song, then fine, but just don't say it's bad. Nobody's perfect, good and bad doesn't rest with our own specific tasts. Like I said, I can apreciate that Def Leppard concerts are really good, and their a great live band, without actually personally liking it too much.

Precisely, I'm not saying that you shouldn't decide yourself what you like. To be honest, the reason I'm persisting with this line is because it's the only way this board will be interesting..... This topic would have read as a list of songs, had people not justified, or challanged what people were saying. Sure, if you think a songs bad, fine, but if you're going to say it on a discussion board, then it's only interesting if you say why. I can accept that people's preferences, tasts can't be justified, or at least can't always be justified. But saying something is good or not, can be, in any circumstances, because you don't have to like a song to think it's good, or to think parts or ideas in it are good. So fine, nobody has to justify anything, yes Ice, we live in a free world. But for the sake of discusison, for the sake of making this place interesting, is it too much to ask for people who decide that they want to express their opinion on a certain topic, justify their sweeping claims?

Have you heard any of the b-sides or demos Flocke? stuff like love is war, let's make it baby, borderline, edge of a broken heart?

You don't make the rules here, get it?
Nor do you, let's just move this discussion on or stop it... at least set up a new thread called "what makes a good song" - as much as i'd love to join in the argument I am on the verge of collapse and shouldn't be on here now
