The lyrics of Bad name are, well bad. Bad mx has some fun lyrics, but im so tired of the song. Born to be my baby has a killer riff, great solo, and the (verse) lyrics are better. Chorus is pure cheese but meh.

So? this means nothing. So your saying if a song isnt well known then its bad? eh no.

I love Bad Name's lyrics. it's not poetry but then it's not supposed to be.it's a quite original song...as opposed to singing about "being born to be my baby"...

...oh, so being tired of a song decides if it's good or bad? I just said bad Medicine is a better song, from all points of view.

if BTMB has a killer riff than the riff of Bad Name is out of this world. Bad Name has one of the greatest riffs ever written by Sambo, by far. Same goes for the solo.and the lyrics of BTBMB are just pathetic. there's nothing about them. As siad before, Bad Name is at least fun.

Nope, I wasn't talking about popularity. I was talking about what defines Bon Jovi...and songs like Bad Name and Bad Medicine are the songs that for me define this band. Born To Be My Baby is just another song. besides, it's a bad one.

Ofcause Bad Name and Bad MEdicine is two of the most song that defins BJ best, BUT that still doesn't make the songs great!!!
And BTBMB was a single from NJ LOTS of people know that song. They lyrics in BTBMB is WAY better than Bad Name and Bad MEdicine, atleast it has a message. Those two other are just, as you and Jon says, "fun", nothing more nothing less. It's a billion songs like that.
Human as I am, I will give Richie credit for two cool solos

I would replace those two songs with most of the BJ songs at any consert. We have heard them enough, we know how they are. They don't try to do something with it, it's just the same as they have always been.
BM got some pieces of an old songs though...

Both has cheezy lyrics!!! BTBMB will never be a Dylan song, but atleast it has some meaning...
And the riff in Bad Name & BTBMB is very much alike, so if you like one, I find if odd that you hate the other.
BTBMB is a song that's VERY typical BJ in the 80's, just like "The Bad Ones".

So, no hard feelings

So, am I the only one who doesn't hate any BJ songs.
Anyway, to play devil's advocate for a second, but if anyone here really thinks Bad Name, or Bad Medicine are gonna get dropped, you're nuts. These are two of BJ's most recognizable songs. And if you've been lucky enough to see the band live enough times to be bored of them, excuse me if I don't feel bad. And BTW, there's nothing wrong with fun songs. God some of you guys act like every show should be "These Days" and "Dry Country". I love those songs, but you need some counter balance.

No, I'm one of those that don't hate any Bon Jovi songs. YAY! So, now there are two of us, lol!

And I agree, the number one songs, Bad Name, LOAP, Bad Medicine will NEVER be dropped from the set list unless it's an accident, lol! There are casual fans that come to the show just to hear these songs.

Yes - I've seen the band enough to get bored with some songs but there are very few - if any - songs that I hate. I like your argument about fun songs though. As a longtime Bruce fan - there is always an ongoing argument on one of his boards about "meaningful" songs being more important than "fun" songs. I say bullshit to that - a concert of nothing but socially conscious, meaninful songs will be too heavy and will bore you to death. Not to mention making you terminally depressed LOL. A good mix is necessary - rock and roll is supposed to be fun.

I've also heard Jon say thats he doesnt see himself singing lyrics like ''OooOoo shes a little runaway'' in his forties.
Mick Jagger said the same thing about Satisfaction.

And yes, BTBMB has horrible lyrics. They are extremely cheesy, but what the hell do you want from an 80s hairmetal band? Bon Jovi's defining song is Livin' On A Prayer, and that one has cheesy as hell lyrics as well. The songs are, however, damn catchy, anthemic and energetic. If I want deep, insightful lyrics, look elsewhere.
