That's what he did on every show from summer '89 till the end of the tour. This what he did right after the chorus. He continued with some lyrics which changed from concert to concert. This was done Rotterdam 89, in London 90 he sing "to understand" instead of "to be your friend".
In Rotterdam he continued with something like "..to understand, to hold my hand..." and I don't understand it further.
Then comes the harmonica solo and after that he sings something at the very end:" you'll be forever in my heart, till the day that I die,.. promise now, forever always, baby, to be mine"
It's not accurate but I did my best with my English.
