O.K I'll hold my hands up, I haven't heard much Scorps stuff after the Crazy World, except for Cos I love you, and that other one, which are very good.
Yes the album is diverse, do we want that? I certainly don't. I listen to a verity of bands, for a verity of reasons. Bon Jovi do rock music with the best of them, but when they play about in other sounds it just ain't the same.
Also, has anybody ever turned up to a Bon Jovi gig late? Because of an exam last year, I could only get down to the Huddersfield gig for about 3. This meant I was quite a bit back from the front. I'm telling you this now, not one of those people around me knew the first thing about Bon Jovi. They screamed at It's My Life, and at Say it isn't so, but when the band went into Raise Your Hands (highlight of the set list), people were looking at one another as if to say, "this isn't on the greatest hits album!". I'll tell you something else, there was probably about 30,000 people behind me who didn't even know as much as the guys around me!
Bon Jovi arn't just writing the albums which they are in the mood to do, they are writing albums which will have a mass appeal, which will get them in the charts, and which will mean they can play to 40,000 people at a time. That is why, with the new craze in bands like Limp Biscit, Bon Jovi change their sound, so they are doing what is "in" at that time. It's so obvious. I wish Bon Jovi were doing what they felt like, I wish they were saying "**** the market, **** what people expect, **** the charts, I'm doing what I want to do". Isn't this the attitude which started everything off in the first place with Runaway??? The band should do what they feel like, that way there would be less fair weather fans, and a much better atmosphere subsequently.
I think people should take my opinion seriously. I'm justifying everything I'm saying, I'm telling you what's wrong, what needs changing, how they could change it, and with the exemption of Let it rock (who agreed with me), all anybody can say is your wrong. You people don't know what your talking about. As far as your concerned, I'm wrong because I'm criticising Bon Jovi. There is no more depth to your arguments than that. Just look at the size of posts. How can you seriously put forward an opinion, and justify it in such a short space. So yes, I am the only person who knows what I'm talking about, cos you guys don't have a clue. I expect people to read and think about what I've said, and anybody who puts forward a similar thought out argument (similar in quality, not in opinion), the I will read it and think about it, and respect it. But I can't respect, 'you don't know what your talking about', or 'you must be listening to a different album to us'. I'm also probably more of a fan than you people in an case, I seem to be the only person who is actually listening to the music.... it's the music that it's all about right????
Also, I'm not telling you the album is crap from a musicians perspective, but from a fan of rock music's point of view. I think anybody who is familiar with rock music (i.e not Bon Jovi and nobody else), is as qualified as me. I go to rock concerts, I live for rock music, and I'm telling you that the album is band. As a keyboard player, I'm telling you David's parts are rubbish. I know better than most what he is doing on the album, and as a keyboard player, I concentrate particularly on the keyboard parts (after hearing the album a few times of course). He doesn't have anything about him, and lets face it, in a cool band he's a bit of a geek. You have to appreciate I know a lot about what I’m saying here!
Also, if you haven’t noticed, on the bottom of each of my posts is a link to my BAND’s website. I play in a band, have written over 80 songs, and am really waiting for a break in my academic studies so I can take my music on full time. It seems quite clear that it is narrow minded people such as yourselves who refuse to visit the site, refuse to hear something different, so you’ve got to think who do we play for. A similar ‘promotion’ for our site was done on the Deep Purple messaging board, where several people have listened, and said we can consider them fans. They incidentally also value peoples opinions, and we have good discussion on there. It seems fitting that probably nobody will check out our website.
Finally, I only found out that Cinderella were on the Monsters of rock the other day. I was listening to the Uli Jon Roth interview on Total rock (it does some great shows), and heard the news then. But your right, it was originally just the three, Cinderella were added latter on.
