Default Bounce release dates

Why is the US release date for Bounce several weeks after other major countries? Other countries always seem to get Jovi bonus tracks and earlier release dates on albums.

I'm sure the schedule is set to coincide with promotions that they intend to do for the new album. Don't confuse the die hard fans on the message boards as the majority of people who will buy the new album and attend the concerts. There are tons of people who could care less what the release date is in which country. And the band needs to schedule tv appearances and other promotions to make them aware.

So given Bon Jovi's global appeal it is not possible to do the promotions that is needed all over the world at once. But I'm sure the new debate over mp3s on the internet may end up altering the huge gap in release in the US.

I will clear the info up for all of you philistines. The CD is released in Japan before everywhere else because CD's are more expensive in Japan, and when a CD is released in the US, Japanese stores will usually stock the US version, because it is much cheaper. That is also why the Japanese version has bonus tracks on.

Also, America don't deserve the album early since it is full of idiots.

Ohh how nice to see this always so friendly & polite krb102 creature here again...NOT. Go away, troll, we don't need your hostile remarks.

Anyway, here's what the Oompas said about the different release dates, in addition to the already mentioned prices of CDs.

Question:
I was wondering why the album is being released internationally first? Is there a larger fan base internationally?
asked by Paisy in the USA on Thursday, August 22

Answer:
The releases are staggered internationally to allow time to roll out the proper plan in all territories and allow the band to do the proper promotion and set up in all territories... but the easy answer it, it's been standard the past few records and not unique to BOUNCE or to Bon Jovi in general. It has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the band's preference or loyalty to anyone nation whatsoever.

Do you think the Oompas have actually been to Japan and spent time there? If so then they will know the proper reason for releasing it there first. If you go into any record shop to buy western music, then if it has already been released in the US, they will have that version, as well as the Japanese version, which will be more expensive. That is why they release the Japanese version first, and add bonus tracks to it.

Yeah, it's true, its because od the prices and importing the US versions, that Japan releases have bonus tracks and are released sooner.
I have a bootleg of a Def Leppard, acoustic, (believe it is 1996) and there they tell that! When asked by a fan. So what has been told on bjHQ is not really true.

Some people believe everything that they are told; some people think they know eveything. The BonJovi HQ board is a perfect example of these two weaknesses working together.

OK, OK - can we just stick to a discussion of what the reason is, & not a report on peoples 'psychological weaknesses'.
I always believed it to be the price reason, however I don't work for the record companies as the 'Oompas do'. I'm sure that having the dates that far apart, as well as to stop cheap imports (probably the primary reason) - it also allows the Band to perform a more comprehensive promotion - covering Japan in detail & then Europe & then the US.

So both reasons seem to be valid.

No, you don't understand. Most artists release the CD in Japan first, it isn't just a Bon Jovi thing. It has nothing to do with promotion. The only reason is the price.

One thing I forgot to add is that it is clear that the Oompas do not really know the reason:

"it's been standard the past few records and not unique to BOUNCE or to Bon Jovi in general. It has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the band's preference or loyalty to anyone nation whatsoever."

All they know is that it happens with most CD's.
