You can't really compare Bounce to SWW or New Jersey. Let's face it, Bon Jovi aren't as popular now as they were then. That was the 80's. This is now. By the way, KTF didn't do all that well in the US. It has only sold about 1.6 million copies in this country, and that's since 1992.

And keep in mind, Bounce was just released LESS THAN THREE MONTHS AGO. Sure, the other albums have sold millions, but they've been out for YEARS. I'm so sick of people complaining about how the album sales suck. The tour hasn't even started yet. Give Bounce a chance for crying out loud..

Anyway, you're absolutely right Sarah. We automatically assume that Bounce is going to go Gold in it's first week... we can't compare Bon Jovi to Eminem. Crush ended up selling 2 million in the states, it's been out for 2 1/2 years now, and I am certain that Bounce will sell at least a steady 15,000 a week for the next several months.

Bon Jovi is definately not as popular as they used to be. Red Hot Chili Peppers have been around for 20 years like Bon Jovi, but they are just NOW getting into their prime. And to tell you the truth, they became mainstream only because they TRIED to become popular by changing their music- at least Bon Jovi doesn't do that. Aerosmith and The Rolling Stones are considered legends but their records don't sell more than a million usually these days. Bon Jovi is still considered one of the best "older" bands as far as being able to sell records.

And sales will also pick up when the tour time comes. After hearing the songs live, people won't resist buying the CD

I can't give actual number of sales, but here are some recent chart positions:

Misunderstood has been in the Australian charts for three weeks and has gone from debuting at 40, back to 41 the next week and has climbed a little to 33 this week, so it's slow but steady I guess.

Bounce re-entered the top 50 last week at 50 after spending a few weeks outside the top 100! Again, it is making slow but steady progress and has climbed a fraction to 47.

If you think that Bounce sales are poor then you are an idiot. I wish my band would sell almost 500,000 records. Trust me, it will go gold before the middle of January and considering these are the sales for the US only than I am pretty sure we are at the 2 or 3 million mark world-wide. Who cares about the sales, I am happy with the record even if I don't think it all that great anyway. Look at the fellow BJ mates Def Leppard's and LA Guns' sales... Enough Said

My band sold about a 1000 records at $12 a piece. We all went to an Italian restaurant to celebrate and still had enought money for McDonald's next morning..
That's great news- ahead of the Foo Fighters etc. I'm not sure how well the album is selling in the rest of the World. In England, the sales would probably be very low.

OK,
Thanks all for replies. Here are a few corrections.
These are US sales only as I mentioned.
In USA, music fades, nothing ever lasts here. No band that is big today (Creed, System of A down, No Doubt, Limp Bizkit, Korn and etc..) will sell more than a million or two copies after ten-twenty years. For you to say that bounce is not doing well is absolutely unacceptable and ridiculous. These days only sold 680,000 copies in the last seven years but it's been certified platinum. Crush only sold around 1,500,000 but it was certified double platinum. Bon Jovi have proven themselves. They will never ever sell more than 2 or 3 million records anymorebecause they are past their prime but they will sure sell enough (around a million maybe) with eah new album to let the people know they're here...
Led Zeppelin is very much present in the US on the radio (I hear them on multiple occasions every day) but their latest "Greatest Hits" only sold a 500,000 in the last two years. Anyway, you gotta know how it works before you say something as stupid as "Bounce sales are crappy"... Where is Poison today and Warrant or GnR. None of those bands can even touch Bon Jovi today, not even Aerosmith
Bon Jovi are scheduled to perform at the Superbowl in January and that will boost the sales (unless they make a mistake like Aerosmith did last year and play alongside N'Sync, Britney Spears, Nelly etc...). Aerosmith's reputation hit a low after that one...

Red Hot Chilli Peppers are not "Just in their Prime". Their High point was 1991-1994 where they had "BLOODSUGARSEXMAGIC". They are still big now because they are good. Just like Bon Jovi, they are making a comeback after a five year break. I like their writing better than Jon's at this point but they have been through more crap in life so they do have stuff to write about...

Again these are the numbers from WWW.METAL-SLUDGE.COM and are for the USA only.

For the ones who didn't know:
Gold is half of platinum sales. In the USA, Platinum is a million and Diamond is 10 million.
In Europe, Platinum is 100,000 copies, just like in Canada. That is per country only. So if they sell a million in europe than that could mean that they sold 200,000 each for UK and France; 100,000 each for Germany, Spain, Denmark and 50,000 for 6 more countries.. This was just an example.

The reason for the differences is because the USA is bigger and more populated. Canada is bigger than the USA but not as populated...
You don't have to work to hard to get this... hehehe

They will
Most likely, you will see Bounce re-enter the US top 100 and climb up to 75 or 80 and then it will go Platinum by then.
