Richie, glad you're interested..

lol ice can rip it/me all he wants to thats his right. Doesn't change the fact that what I talk about is correct...or works for me, and I must be doing something right to be making a living out of music.

These kinds of places are great for opinons though, if everyone just agreed with me then i'd never learn anything knew or different.

I just thought that I'd inject some tech talk into the forum, make a change form pointless polls and isn't jon a cutey thread..

oh ooo...i sense a flaming from lots of girls

*runs for cover*

peace

There's no need to make ALBUMS louder, only single-edits are being compressed to sound louder. The compression on albums is to make the track in question to sound "beefier". It's not designed for radio.

Quote:
Any prodcuer, engineer will tell you also that the more you compress it the more dynamic range you lose.
Of course, but the question here is wheater your argument holds up on Bounce. And with Bob Clearmountain mixing and George Marino mastering, I don't think they messed it up. These guys are as professional as you can get. If anything is done, it's intentional. But I'm pretty sure, you're in no position to go and tell George Marion he's over compressed the songs...

Quote:
i contest heavily that pre-recorded acoustic sounds are not used.
Destination Anywhere album is just one example. Kenny Aronoff played drumbeats that were recorded and used as loops. In QONO he's playing on top of a loop that is him playing a beat. And how do I know this? I've talked with Kenny about the recording of that album.

Quote:
Infact in this sort of commercial pop rock genre it is the opposite which is true. Synthesized sounds are not often used for loop creation.
Um. I care to disagree. So you're saying people don't use Roland drummachines or the sounds from them? Ever heard of the TR-808? It's STILL being used despite it's horrible (if compared to acoustic) sounds.

Quote:
What you're talking about with Synthesizd rhythm loops is something more electronic based like Radiohead late albums, and Aphex Twin.
Yep. I never said Bon Jovi uses electronic sounds. But the question was wheather or not you can call loops drum computers. In any case it's the computer playing the loops, so it really doesn't matter if you call it a loop or a computer...

Quote:
Being in the business for the length that they have has nothing to do with messing their sound up or not.
Again, I disagree. Bon Jovi can and do use the best people around. And they're the best because they do consistent job and the records they make are the highest quality possible. Or cna you honestly say that Bob Clearmountain or George Marion are not the top guys in the business?

Quote:
Lets face it I think we'd all agre the sound of the records were better when Bob Rock was at the boards - even if he did screw up metallica's career! he he
Bob Rock's a producer. He has no say over the mastering. And I doubt that Bounce would've sounded any less compressed with him behind the console. Jon and Richie are pretty much in control, no matter who's producing. They decide how the record should sound.

Quote:
Although I stand firm on that the songs themselves had potential, and again comprimises were made.
But what are the compromises and why were they made? I don't think you can blame it all on mastering or compression. There are other reasons behind it.

And as for RichieW, he's been bugging me for months and the reason seems to be that he never has any arguments of his own... I've yet to see him back anything up. It's easy being a "yes" - man, try something else next time, ok?

It would be just as much of a problem. I hate people with no will of their own.

Yes, please. Do something else that pick on me for no reason. It's pretty pathetic if you think about it.

Oh, you think you're going places? Not with that attitude your not. Nobody likes a yes-man.

I'm not hostile, your the one calling me names. Kinda sad really, you've got nothing else to say, so you rip my thoughts apart. I'd like to see YOU come up with an opinion of your one once in a while.

Don't take this personally, but are admitting that you are nothing but a**kisser with no OWN opinions. And sure, a**kissing takes u a lot further.

What comes to this topic, I think Ice & Track are both doing good job. Good points from both of them actually. Most people ignore all the technical stuff when listening, it's nice to see someone debating about it.
