The reason it's so over produced was because they had it recorded months in advance of the release date, so they touched everything up and over dubbed the hell out of it.

It was a half arsed post 9/11 album, Bruce Springsteen came out with 'The Rising' which dealt with the issue with beautiful, heartfelt, uplifting songs, along with other songs which had nothing to do with 9/11. But still felt true and sat well with the others.

Bounce started very well and then descended into a messy Elton John / Billy Joel snooze fest.

I've always enjoyed it at some level. True, it's nowhere near the same league and NJ, KTF, These Days, et al, but it has some great tracks there. The rockers are great, but yea, the slower songs are average at best.

I think it's certainly a bit more "experimental" than other albums, even though all their albums are different in some ways. I like it's heavier, more distorted sound, but there are some production issues there aswell.

My only real gripes with Bounce is that it's a very uneven album, and has an extreme lack of guitar solos. If they threw in some cracking solos on tracks like Undivided, Hook Me Up and Bounce, it would have really beefed up the album.

Despite that probably rate Have A Nice Day over Bounce in terms of consistancy, I come back to Bounce alot more than all the recent Bon Jovi albums.

I gotta agree with that. I didn't like on first listen and a tour (and lot of listens later) I still don't like it. It's extremely unsatisfying - it's neither a good Bon Jovi album - or a good anything else either. I like one or two tracks but that's it.

Undivided is a good song. I understand what Seb is saying about the dated lyrics but since I live here it does mean more to me.

Hook me Up I liked from the beginning and Bounce is OK if you can get past the cringeworthy lyrics.

And that's about all the good I have to say about Bounce LOL.

However - some of the B sides - and some stuff off the Target CD should have been on the album in my opinion.

It's true, on some parts it's like it's not even Bon jovi so I can understand a lot of people being put off by it.

BTW, I've always thought you had me from Hello sounded like something Richie would write, like a left over from Undiscovered Soul or something.
Completely agreed. It really has a "In it for Love" vibe.

I mostly agree with everything thats been said here. It tries to be too many things to too many people and it's just a mix of too many different sounds. In the album, the songs dont work but on their own, I dig em. I really love Open All Night but it doesnt fit the flow of the album at all.

To be honest, I loved Bounce very much when it was released. It was first Bon Jovi album that I was waiting for being released. But after some time I realized that it isn't what it wants to be. There are some perfect tracks but so many poor ones. I think some better production could help it a lot, to make it more natural.
From a live point of view - the Bounce tour is the worst tour from the last years. First tour when they started to omit the real classics and when Jon sounded badly.

On the other hand, I listen to Bounce more often than to crappy LH.

Okay okay – some of you don’t like it !!!

But if you haven’t heard it in a while its sound good (to me)

Thing is a lot of you are saying that the album sounds over produced – dosnt every Jovi album?
Others are saying the solos are poor – ive always thought that since KTF that the solos have been either poor, too short or some songs don’t even have solos.
What p1sses me off is that when you see Jovi live the solos are extended – why cant this happen on the record.
I remember hyde park in 03 – they played the distance and the solo at the end went on for ages – there isn’t even a solo at the end of the version on the album !!!
Also when Ritchie plays/sings Ill be there for you – again, a (long) solo is added at the end of the song – but not on the album.
Any Other Day – the best Jovi track wrote for years and if you saw them at the O2 or watched the Lost Highway DVD – the solos go on for ages – but not on the record.
Surely the solos on the records should be longer than 5 seconds
My fave solos are early ones like Id die for you, bed of rose and born to be my baby – but on the new stuff the solos are hit and miss which is disappointing as we all know what Ritchie is capable off. Rant over !!!

These Days is full of great solos, even Crush has some great ones compared to Bounce.

they will NEVER beat New Jersey in terms of a perfect album
i miss those days.
if a band releases 10 albums there are bound to be 1 or 2 that are not up to the usual standard.
i like LH - epecially the 1st 6 songs.
i also love the bonus tracks - Put the boy back in cowboy, walk like a man and lonely.
i honestly dont know why these were not included in ALL versions.
you could replace I love this town, strangers and one step closer - witht the above 3 and have a damn fine album.
The last 4 or 5 Jovi albums have had too much filler and not enough Killer.

regarding HAND - i like the 1st 2 then thing the rest up until I am are quite poor.
WSYCGH is probably the BJ song I hate the most - it pips Diamond Ring and all about loving you.

For some reason I really like Bounce. Allthough the album's flow sucksand i absolutely dislike Love me back to life and open all night, I really like it. It could have been a much better album, ahd it not been as overproduced. I definitely prefer Bounce to HAND, which I've never really been into.
