When haven't they done that? In the US, they try and promote the hell out of every album. Bounce failed because they started with a single that didn't catch (Everyday), didn't release a single that would have caught (Undivided, The Distance), and the rest of it sucked.

Post Keep The Faith, Bon Jovi albums that sell over 1 million copies in the US, do so on a single:

Crush - It's My Life
Have A Nice Day - Who Says You Can't Go Home?
Lost Highway - (You Want To) Make A Memory

What I meant was that they promoted it like crazy in the USA, but for the first time ever with a Bon Jovi release, the rest of the world got 2 big promo gigs (a show in the UK and a show in Japan) and that was it. This was different compared to Crush, for which the band did a lot of radio shows, TV performances and all that.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Wait a minute. Are you trying to tell us that you don't like Lost Highway?

How interesting.

Probably what makes me like Bounce more than I maybe would is because of the Shephards Bush show. It was such a magical night in my life, because I only decided to go at midnight the night before, didn't have a ticket, flew down in the morning and met my friend Jude (who's now my wife - again, because of that night), hung around outside for ages and couldn't get a ticket (not at the extortionate prices the touts were after), and then, minutes before the door opened a girl I didn't even know won an extra ticket on a radio show and decided to give it to me...so I was up on the balcony, and if any of you have the audio, the bit where Jon says "I see ya', I see ya', you're getting excited now" and laughs was cos I was going absolutely mental. It was one of the best gigs of my life, and hearing things like The Distance for the first time was awesome. Then me and my friend went back to her hotel - and well, you can imagine the rest ;O)

I guess because of that, I can never hate Bounce. Also the Bounce tour was the first time I was front row at every gig I went to on the tour (and Hyde Park was so awesome, looking back at the thousands and thousands of people behind me). So while as I said earlier, it's not the best album, because of all its connections, for me it could never be the worst.

Should have included:

Another reason to believe
Standing
We can dance
No regrets
Postcards from the waste land
I agree thats better then a lot of what made the album but it might be too much to have 2 9/11 inspired songs on it.

Also "We Can Dance" and Postcards sound VERY similar. I like them both but it's probably best they weren't on the same album together. It'd be nice if one was included though. I know everyone will probably prefer Postcards but I have a soft spot for We Can Dance so I'd probably have plumped for that.

Standing is a great song and should definately have made it. I remember buying the Everyday single and playing Standing much more then the title track. But again it maybe to similar in theme to both Everday and Bounce. It's a shame because I think it's actually a much better song then Bounce.

The main thing that sticks out about Bounce was the lack of solos. Heavy guitars drowning out nearly everything and then..........no solo, or at least no solo worth listening to. Hook Me Up especially could be an amazing rocker if it had a good solo. As it stands I think its good not great.

Bounce is kind of mixed for me. The Distance and Hook me up are two of my favorite Bon Jovi songs ever. Others like Joey, All about loving you etc. really suck. The good are really good, the bad are really bad....

I liked Bounce when it first came out, but somehow it just didnt seem to stick, it wasnt memorable, didnt make me want to play it over and over.... I still listen to Distance + Joey, both of these r on my fav list.

I think Undivided is still a great song, dated lyrics or not, you could really feel the anger and defiance first hand in that one. I really latched on to that song and it still holds a special place for me.

Actually, I think the first five songs on the album are really good but I go back and forth on Everyday. I find myself listening to it quite a lot though even though I feel the band has many better songs. I think The Distance works well but would have been much better with the solo at the end.

Joey, along with Mystery Train, are probably the two most underrated songs in the band's catalogue.

Yup me too. It just wouldn't stick. Never listened to it after Hyde Park.

There was more promo than that. The UK alone had 2 shows (Wembley Arena and Shepherd's Bush), the CD:UK special, and probably other things that slip my mind
