Like most here I think that there are some standout tracks on 'Bounce'

As already mention the album doesn't flow too well and has some dodgy tracks too.

It could have been so much better IMO.

Man, I like Right Side of Wrong... lol.

Ummm as for the album, it's certainly nothing groundbreaking but it's ok. I like about half the songs on there but the the other half is quite drippy and weak. Maybe with a bit more time we could have had a great record. The Distance, Love Me Back to Life and Right Side of Wrong are my faves from there. Misunderstood sounded better when I was in high school. All About Lovin' You would have been better acoustic IMO. Bounce is awesome until Jon starts singing (some of the lyrics are so bad it's funny) .
Everyday is boring. Undivided is a cool opener (I'm from Australia but we weren't spared from the "we stand united" sentiment at that time either)... They could have gone all the way with the post-9/11 theme and done something brilliant like Springsteen's The Rising, but alas.

However this is all subjective of course. I don't personally think Bounce was significantly worse than Crush, as some would have us believe. I'm not sure why Crush sold as well as it did though, didn't it only have one hit single?

There's some songs on Bounce that I love (The Distance, Right Side of Wrong, Joey), A few that I think are really good (Misunderstood, Undivided, Bounce) and the other half of he album ranges from meh to bad imo. It's funny, I'll always remember Bounce, because it was the first album released in my time a super-fan, but even from then I've always thought it sounds more like a grouping of songs than it does an album.

Personally, I consider Bounce to be a solid Bon Jovi album. It appealed to me the moment I bought it and was quite surprised to understand eventually that it underperformed saleswise. The mix between rockers and ballads seems well balanced to me. The aforementioned B-sides (Standing, Breathe, and especially Another Reason To Believe, as well as the 2 bonus tracks No Regrets and Postcards from the Wasteland) could and should have been included on the album without cutting any of the songs that made it because the very record runs for 49 mins only.
Like any other record it has its prominent and not so prominent tracks. My favourites are definitely Undivided, Everyday, The Distance, Right Side of Wrong, Love Me Back To Life. You Had Me From Hello and Open All Night are both soft songs with emotional lyrics anyone could relate to.
All in all, in my honest opinion, I like the album as a whole and still listen the CD regularly.

- There is no worse ballad than Save The World in the BJ catalogue. Thank You... is, however, their best ballad since In These Arms.
- HAND > Bounce > Crush > LH
- Postcards definitely should have been on the album... great song.

Aloha !

Mystery Train is one of the most underrated Bon Jovi songs in my opinion. Most people dislike it because it just doesn't sound like Bon Jovi. It shouldn't have been on Crush, but then again, half of what's on Crush shouldn't have been on Crush.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Half of what is on Crush wasn't intended to be on Crush - it was to be another of Jon's solo albums.

Maybe that is why it seems so schizo LOL
