I prefer to look at it like this: it's like found money.
If I discover a $20 bill in my pocket and didn't know it was there - hey, that's great. I can do whatever I like with it.
It's all good.
I'm happy we're getting a box set. They could just as easily scrap the whole project. I'm interested to see what will be in it. I won't hold my breath that what Jon or Obie or Richie say will be in the final box set - if we've been shown anything its that anything can change with this band.
So, until then... it will be a pleasant surprise worth looking foward to.

Nah - that's not true. The band deliberately released Always early on Crossroad because they were so pleased with it (along with Sat Night). It was intented to be on the next studio album.

I think you might be confused with Bed Of Roses which Jon part-wrote (see the hotel story for details) but it was a friend who made him actually finished the song.

I thought Always was meant for a soundtrack. And because they liked it too much and it didn't fit These Days they put it on Crossroad.

You're half right there. Always was written for the Gary Oldman movie 'Romeo Is Bleeding' but Jon disliked the movie so he kept the track for the band. Then the greatest hits album was announced and they put Always and Sat night on because they liked them so much.

I may be wrong but I remember Jon saying in an MTV interview around '97, that he wrote the song for the film "Romeo is Bleeding". He thought the film was poor so he pulled the track and said it was "locked away in his basement" until one of his friends heard it and told him that the song had hit written all over it. I remember Jon saying that whoever it was that told him "was a friend, well if he wasnt beforehand he was afterwards". For the life of me I cant remember who it was.
