It's really not a It's My Life type song and I agree completely... there are some pretty good lyrics in this song but the phrase "Live This Life" is still in it, and at this point it is enough to make me cringe a little.
In the late 80's through the mid 90s he relied on the die/cry/lie - die for you/cry for you lyric to fill space, and I suppose that is what he is doing here. But they just have carried this out a little longer, I suppose.
There is nothing melodically or musically interesting about this song. It's an okay pop song, but with (for the most part) above par lyrics.
