The reason I started this thread is that I noticed from my short time here that TD is by far the most referenced album. I was just curious why that was. I didnt expect the "stuck up your own ass" comments. That was just a bonus.
TD most referenced album here, I had never thought about it... you are probably right , its because we are all so dark + deep and meaningful except for Ryan as he likes golf

Im really glad they did this I just wish theyd play more songs from it!!!

same thing happened to me too! i didn't like it and then it became one of my favourite albums.

I am glad we are all people and have diffrent opinions.
Bascially because Lie To Me has never appealed to me. Before I had TD I bought the Lie To Me single, and as a b-side it had a great live version of Something for the Pain, which may well have made Lie To Me sound a bit dull. I know it's a hell of a lot better than any of the ballads post TD but when you put it alongside a lot of the other great tracks on TD it just doesn't stand out for me.

I suppose it's each to their own at the end of the day. I have a similar opinion on Always. It is a great ballad, but it's just not lasted for me and I've kinda grown bored of it. I tend to prefer Bed of Roses or Livin' In Sin. On the contrary I abosolutely adore Learning How to Fall from Destination Anywhere, when everyone else seems to think that it is a very average song. Difference in opinion is what makes life interesting.

I never noticed it was the most referenced.. I always see it as the forgotten album for some reason. For me personally These Days showcased another side of them and showed what they could achieve when they tried something a little different.

Thats not to say I dont think NJ and SWW are classic Jovi and will always have some awesome songs on them. They do and they are great albums.

If I had to choose one album to take wherever with me it would be These Days.. but I guess thats because I dont look for that big rock sound out of them that they keep promising everyone .. I am just happy to get good songs that I love. That doesnt mean everyone else is going to feel the same way of course.

I think with These Days most people either think its overated or underated.

Kat

It's strange that a lot of people see it as a ballad-record, a soft record. I don't know why but for some strange reason I consider it their heaviest. It's not only Hey God but I think it's Jon Bon Jovi. All songs have this freakin aweseome HEAVY vocal performance.

I posted here 3000+ times and somehow it starts feeling that I already said all this before...maybe even more than once.

You're right though. Jon's vocals are top quality on the record. There are quite a few ballads on the record but I don't consider it a soft record. It's not as soft as Crush or Bounce anyway. It has rockers like Hey God, Damned and the bonus track All I Want is Everything, but even in some of the ballads you get the impression that they are rocking because of the power in some of them, such as the chorus of TAALS for example.
