first of all they needed an album to reach 100 millions in sales. it was probably the record company who wanted them to have an album ready so they could have a reason to celebrate with the box set. i have said this many times before- tlfr is a rushed album, a sales boost. after all it seems that this whole project was pat leonard's idea (and maybe that's the reason it ended up sooo bad). and even if it is the way you say (i think it isn't) tlfr is one album... what about the rest?
Yes, TLFR was rushed, noone can deny that and yes, it more than likely was the record company. However, I think TLFR was the only time they really veered away from the normal Jovi sound and created something totally different. You compare their past albums, their sound has not changed a whole lot, however the music around them has changed. Think about it, you go to a Jovi concert and hear Bad Name, then It's My Life. You don't think "Gee, their sound has really changed!" If anything, the music around them has changed causing them to be classified in different genres. They were heavy metal in the 80s, rock in the 90s and now pop. I really think the only thing that's changed with Jovi is their music has matured, but the same sound remains.
i don't exactly understand how you can change your music without changing your sound. you mean different songs same style? if that is what you mean it's not a problem for me. if i wanted a different style other than hard rock/rock or even pop rock in some songs i wouldn't listen to bon jovi i would listen to britney spears or backstreet boys. no pop for me thanx... every change is not necessarily a good change. i like evolution in music (they couldn't stay in the 80s music) but to become pop from hard rock (they have never been heavy metal) is something different and very stupid imo. i like bon jovi because i like rock i don't like rock because i like bon jovi if you know what i mean.

after NJ Bon Jovi managed to successfully move away from the whole "80's hair metal" phase, and this stuck with them throughout the nineties, but then BJ tried to return to their roots with mixed results: IML/SIIS great, CC/IGTG/TYFLM just mediocre. One predictable live album, and "Crush part2" later, Jon in particular it seems, is eager to return to their mature and far more credible writing.

Do you think that the band is overrated? Or, maybe, underrated? Or about right?
-actually I think they are underrated, they are an incredible live band,Jon is a great frontman and Richie compliments him well.

Do you think they got to 100 mill. records sold mark because they are that good, or simply because MTV used to hype them in a big way? Maybe some other reasons?
-a little of both.

Do you think they've run their course? Or not yet?
-nah,although they will not be as big as they were in the 80's,they still have a ways to go.

What do you think the future holds for them?
-more cds,more tours.

hmmmmmm Bon Jovi invented the "hair metal " phase.

And god bless them for that, the 80's were wonderful time to be a rock fan.
