Can't complain anymore about WAN's sales

A lot of people on here were calling it a bomb with first week sales of 101,000. Has anyone seen the numbers on Mariah's or J-Lo's latest albums? Mariah had 1st week sales of just 58,000 and dropped to #18 in it's 2nd week. J-Lo's is on pace to fall below 40,000.

I saw an article about their low sales yesterday. Miranda Lambert sold 180,000 copies of her new album a couple of weeks ago.

Very impressive -- especially since unlike JoLo or Mariah, I don't even know who Miranda Lambert is!

Perhaps this is a sign that people have better things to do with their money than spend it on music that looks better than it sounds. More "sing" and less "bling" might be the answer!

Miranda Lambert is a very popular country star. She's had a string of hits a mile long. She's also married to Blake Shelton (another country star and a coach on The Voice).

I don't hate country music like I hate rap and hip-hop. But I can't stand the lyrics and song titles.

Considering the quality of the album, I don't think it was a commercial failure.

What About Now was the 125th best selling album of 2013 (217,000 units).

Music in general just doesn't have that social movement it once did. Today's generation don't care about Veteran artists.

Veterans who have built their fan bases on good product can survive, even take off a year or two -- rock bands in particular. It's the video-dependent pop tarts and hiphoppers whose shelf lives are endangered because it's so easy for their record labels to replace them with younger models.

True... But there really needs to be a distinction between albums and tours though. Besides your die-hards who buy everything, they are just a very small percentage of the general population. It's the casual fans that make the impact.

Example, there are a ton of veteran bands that I love. Take Tom Petty for example. I have a few albums plus a couple of greatest hits however, I couldn't tell you if he released any new material within the past 10 years... But, if he toured tomorrow, I'd be there in a second.

I blame this on radio and video no longer catering to the greats.

I think the real gap with music started from '00 to current times. There were really no major artists that impacted that particular time frame, leaving a gap for today's generation.

Sorry, but you're simply old. There's a ton of artists that started out during that time period and have since become household names, still making millions touring. That they have little impact on your life I believe, but are you telling me Eminem, Linkin Park, Pink, Nickelback, Beyoncé etc. are neither major nor had any impact?
