I probably should have stated the past 10 years because I consider some of these artist veterans. A few of these artists emerged in the late 90s or part of other groups in the 90s. But even so, this is a pretty pathetic list if this is the best we got out the past 15 years of music.

Adele... her album 21 sold albums like it was the 80s. Apparently is has sold 28 million copies - that is equal with Slippery When Wet.

US: 10x Platinum
Canada: 10x Platinum
Australia: 14x Platinum
New Zealand: 12x Platinum
UK: 16x Platinum
Ireland: 18x Platinum
Germany: 8x Platinum
Italy: 8x Platinum
Netherlands: 9x Platinum

She had five singles from the album, and all went at least gold in the States, Canada and Australia. Three of them were big hits, two of them massive.

Rolling In the Deep went 7, 8 and 9x platinum in Australia, US and Canada respectively. While Someone Like You went 7x Platinum in both Australia and Canada, and 5x Platinum in the US.

While stars like Katy Perry, Rihanna, Beyonce, Pink and Gaga have had huge success (particularly with their singles), Adele is on another level. It will be interesting to see if her follow up albums do just as well.

And she kept her clothes on, too!

I was actually thinking about her the other day in comparison to Jon. I worry about her vocally. She already had surgery at such a young age and stage in her career. I just don't see her having longevity.

BTY, I think these numbers are a little exaggerated but she is the real deal and I'll give credit where credit is due.

Now, let us take a brief moment to reflect on the souls who purchased What About Now. Hopefully some good will come from their suffering.

It was the first album I actually bought as a download instead of the old classic way of actually going to a record shop, does this make me even more lost.................

Oh please.

While not their greatest album, What About Now had enough decent moments to make the whole $12 I spent on it an investment I can live with.

Brother Rob, you must forgive yourself before the pain will go away. I recommend going to a shooting range and firing a few rounds into a physical copy of WAN, they can be found in most charity shops for next to nothing.

Peace be with you.
