Sometimes for a songs sake, a band actually has to underplay it's actual talents.

But however I will agree with the general opinion here, Bad Medicine is the better song (where did we begin comparing the two anyway?). I rememkber when I first heard bad medicine, I had that prechorus stuck in my head forever, they play it at each and every show and it was stuck in the samew slot on the live show with the same cover song for ages so it's natural that die hards get a bit sick of it, but it is indeed a great song.

P.S.
Didn't Elvis Costello aknowledge this in the 80's, and is it true that he covered it live? That's neat.

In all honesty, this is one of my alltime favourite songs. Seriously, I can't listen to it enough. It's just a fantastically fun song and when they played it at Hampden in 06 I was over the moon. It's just fantastic.

Really? I just don't get that. But you see, to me, to class something as an "all time favourite song" It has to be talented. It has to have good lyrics, good music...I don't want it to just be catchy and fun.

If we all loved the same thing, it would be a boring world.

I love Captain Crash, and am one of it's biggest defenders on this board, but Bad Medicine is a much better song. BM is a classic IMO, and the best "party" song that the band has ever written.

Too each their own, but I think it does have good lyrics and good music.
Sure it's not Dry County, but songs don't have to be deep to be good IMO.

I'm here to defend Captain Crash. I always thought it's a great song - I love the melody, the lyrics, the tone, the irony, the fun. Something different! It's a bit overplayed though - when I heard the opening notes in Munich I thought "oh no", but then it turned out to be just fun. It's got somethimg, and I don't understand why so many people hate it. Yeah, becaus eit's a bad song... I got that point...

OK, I'm gonna listen to it on my iPod right now. See if I hear something different this time.

When Crush came out, I had been waiting for four years for a new album of my favourite band. So that album hit me big time by the time it was released. It grew on my quickly, though it was not the album that I had expected, and I fell in love with every single song. I remember listening to it over and over in my summer holidays 2000. Magic experience. I have so many memories connected to this album, and while my favourite track off it is still "One Wild Night", this song always pops up when I think back, like me being confused what to expect when I read the funny title first...

In fact, I would defend every song on Crush for the sake being so important for me back then. I was 17, and Crush saved my life!

Haha, yeah. I also remember getting the CD. And I remember seeing the Capt. Crash title, and being anxious as to how it will be. It wasn't what I was expecting at all.

I just had another listen, for the first time in ages. It's not as bad as I made out before. It does get you moving, and happy. But I still have to stick with, it isn't a great song at all. It's not what I'd class as great. But it is fun. Will that do?

It's just catchy pop bullshit that Bon Jovi wrote to try and appeal to the younger generation. It's like a rocked up version of a Tweenies song or something. It certainly wouldn't be on my setlist of choice.
