I just had another listen, for the first time in ages. It's not as bad as I made out before. It does get you moving, and happy. But I still have to stick with, it isn't a great song at all. It's not what I'd class as great. But it is fun. Will that do?
Haha yeah, that'll do!
Well, I don't know if I would class it as 'great' myself (but neither would I Bad Medicine - this song just works live), I mean, it's not a "My Guitar Lies Bleeding" or "Dry County", but for what it is, I really appreciate it. And it sticks out of the catalogue imo. It's a good song. Maybe it's Crush's "Something For The Pain", and no, I don't think it was conceived to appeal to a younger generation - therefore it is too much of a 70s reference. I believe the band had fun writing it, as simple as that, and as I don't see anything wrong about this tune, I will defend it till kingdom come! Well yeah...

Okay - I like this song, always have, always will, and used to enjoy it live - but it doesn't seem to be played with the same energy now as it was on the Crush and OWN tours, and that's what bores me.

I wanna' be excited for it, but when they start playing it, I'm like - blah - there's some OOMPH missing somewhere.

Was listening to the live version of Bad Medicine from the KTF special edition this morning, and in comparison, no way Captain Crash can compare to that live so not sure where the comparisons between those songs started.

They're totally different kinds of songs, musically. I think as both having nonsense lyrics, that's when the comparison began. And that live version IS so cool! Just played a bit too fast imo.

I HATE CAPT. CRASH !!!! I wish it had never been written. I'm thankful it was never released as a single, and I just cannot fathom why Jon plays it almost every concert.

I didn't think much of it when Crush was released, but my dislike intensified into hate after my 2 concerts in 2000 when they played the video of of "Capt. Crash" in the crowd at every concert. At those concerts everyone around me was looking around the arena trying to see where "Capt. Crash" was and of course, he wasn't anywhere because the video was from a concert earlier in the tour. I would have been looking too, if not for reading about it here at DC before my concerts. I felt like the video was toying with the fans, almost playing a trick on them really, and it created an even worse opinion of a song I hadn't liked in the first place.

I hated it for years until i heard it live in punchestown. i liked it live but that may be because jons voice was in good nick. That always helps. I get the feeling he enjoys everything more when his voice is good.
