You should give him the TD album + Faith, Roses, Believe, Blood, Hands, Prayer, Wanted, Bad Name.

If I were to make a BJ mix for a non-fan, I'd take three things into consideration: the first being that (and I know certain people here who'll disagree with me) but since Jovi have had three distinct sounds in he last three decades, I'd try to give a bit of each one. The second being that I would introduce them with MOSTLY mainstream songs as opposed to say personal favorites, or album cuts (though slipping in a few wouldn't hurt) Thirdly, I'd take into account the person's musical taste (Rock, Ballad, Soft Rock, Pop, etc.) Now since I don't know the person you're making this for, I'd do something using only the first two:
-Runaway
-Bad Name
-Prayer
-Wanted
-Never Say Goodbye
-Lay Your Hands On Me
-Bad Medicine
-Born to Be My Baby
-Blood on Blood
-Wild Is The Wind
-I'll be There For You
-I Believe
-KTF
-In These Arms
-BOR
-Dry County
-Always
-Saturday Night
-Hey God
-TAALS
-These Days
-Damned
-Something To Believe In
-It's My Life
-Say It Isn't So
-Two Story Town
-Undivided
-The Distance
-Have A Nice Day
-Who Says (regular)
-LMS
-Novacaine
-MaM
-Whole Lot Of Leavin'
-Any Other Day
-Open All Night (Box Set, Track Five version)

As I said mainly hits/singles with a some album tracks thrown in to ease the person in.

Similarly, Crush won me over, even though it's not one of Bon Jovi's best albums. It was still miles better than that pop stuff my friends were listening to at the time (I'm not old enough to have experienced BJ in the 80s or 90s )

Here's the tracklist I used to make a BJ CD for my girlfriend, and a few other friends who were casual fans. I tried to pick a selection of songs that had the greatest apeal, and a mix of rockers/ballads mid tempo etc.

Prayer
Bad Name
Faith
Always
Have a Nice Day
Lay Your Hands on Me
Wanted
Bad Medicine
In These Arms
Saturday Night
Born to be my Baby
It's My Life
Bed of Roses
Everyday
This Ain't A love song

15 tracks, fits nicely on a CD.

A few weeks ago I created a CD which was meant to give an overlook of the band's whole career - a mission which of course will have to fail. There's not enough space on one CD for every relevant song. And from my favourite album (These Days) I only took one song. Remember: This collection is not meant to represent my favourite songs, but those who tell the story of Bon Jovi (with the regular album tracks, no B-Sides etc.)... as a compromise of course.

1. Runaway
2. Livin' On A Prayer
3. Wanted Dead Or Alive
4. Blood On Blood
5. I'll Be There For You
6. Keep The Faith
7. Bed Of Roses
8. In These Arms
9. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
10. Always
11. These Days
12. It's My Life
13. Just Older
14. Everyday
15. Last Man Standing
16. (You Want To) Make A Memory

If I was up to convert somebody who doesn't know much of BJ I would make sure to cover all the different sides of the band.

The rock-stuff like: Hey God, Last Man Standing, One Wild Night, Bounce, Good Guys Don't Always Wear White...

The ballads: Always, Bed Of Roses, I'll Be There For You, Diamond Ring, Make A Memory...

Good album cuts or unkown songs: Dry County, My Guitar Lies Bleeding, Something To Believe In, Blood On Blood, Raise Your Hands...

The classics: Runaway, Prayer, Wanted, Keep The Faith, In These Arms, These Days, Saturday Night, Have A Nice Day...

Something like this...

It would, of course, depend on the person for whom you were making the CD, but I'd be inclined to include stuff that most people don't know. Whether fans or not, most people have at least heard Bon Jovi's big hits. (If I were to include them on this CD, I'd probably use Kathleen's idea and find acoustic versions.) During the Prudential run, I made a friend listen to These Days (the album version) after explaining that Richie had been singing lead on it and that I couldn't wait to hear it in New Jersey. When These Days ended, we just left the CD playing, and she was amazed at the songs that followed. She had no idea that Bon Jovi did songs like Lie To Me, My Guitar Lies Bleeding In My Arms and (It's Hard) Letting You Go, or that Jon & Richie could harmonize like that. (And we didn't even get as far as Diamond Ring!) I guess my theory is that anyone who was going to be a fan based on the hits would already be one. Why not try out the other stuff on the non-fan?

Why bother!?
Just give him/ her a cd with music about which you know that he/ she would appreciate!
Leave the converting part for the strong religious people, who seem to enjoy bothering others with it.
