So where's that guy that said Richie wasn't particularly close to Neal Schon style-wise? WHERE IS HE? I know somebody recently said he owed more to Eddie Van Halen.

Anyway, great article, thanks for scanning / posting it!

Who knew the very first SWW album cover was actually gonna be a bar of soap with Slippery When Wet engraved on it and a girl rubbing her hands across it?!!

Celebrating SWW30: RARE STUFF #06 - Metal Hammer [UK magazine, XX/1986] November 9th 1986 The Gaumont: Ipswich, UK Live review & after show interview w/ Richie Sambora

On this very day, 30 years ago, November 9th 1986, Bon Jovi played in The Gaumont: Ipswich, UK. They had just started european tour in support of Slippery When Wet, this show being the second one on the tour. Album had already peaked @ number one on US Billboard 200 and the band were catapulting into the big league. However venues on this tour were rather small; The Gaumont was holding just under 1600 people.

Enjoy this gig review & after show interview with Richie Sambora!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post these, rokuli!! I just love these old articles, especially since I didn't follow the band at that time. It's almost like having a time machine!

What a great way to celebrate 30 years!

Haha. Where have those years gone, though?

Celebrating SWW30: RARE STUFF #07 - Metal Hammer [UK magazine, XX/1986] November 1986 Hammersmith Odeon, London UK Live review & Tico, Alec & Dave's interview from Secret Society fan club magazine.

Today, 30 years ago (on November 24th, 1986) Bon jovi were playing their 3rd show in Hammersmith Odeon, London UK. Demand for the band is rapidly growing and they added two shows to this legendary venue (first ones being on 17th & 18th November). The band had also launched their first official fan club called "Secret Society" which interviewed Dave, Tico and Alec just before they headed into this very european tour in support of Slippey When Wet.

Enjoy this gig review & maybe the rarest interview so far on this "Celebrating SWW30" series.
