Don't say never. Though I'm not a true Coldplay fan, I respect their music and I have to say that they are one VERY talented band with a big career ahead of them. Bon Jovi was popular (for the most part) in the 80's... Coldplay is one of the most popular right now in the 00's... I find a lot of their music upbeat and quite amazing. Look at the numbers with their last album and of course their latest.

Ryan
I agree with you with all but the upbeat thing.
Coldplay is a lot of things, but they are NOT upbeat.

yeah. as far as i'm concerned they're quite boring. i only like a few songs.
Yeah and every song sounds so similar to the last one with his long humble drawn out vocals and down tempo melodic music.

It's each to their own, but one day Coldplay will be one of the biggest bands on the planet. I predict they will be as big as Bon Jovi. People have got to listen beyond Trouble, as the albums have progressed so has their style. Anyone who thinks Coldplay are boring really needs to see them live and be proved wrong. Their live show that I attended a few weeks ago is up there with my favourites; Jovi and the Stones.

No they won't be one of the biggest bands of the world. They aren't part of a hype, haven't offered anything special that people will remember forever and all of their songs sound the same. Live they're nothing special either, or you'd have to like the spastical moves of that singer behind a piano. They're just boring.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I like Coldplay, and I have three of their albums, but they are a bit repetitive. I can't see them lasting as long as BJ, only because they have already fallen into the trap of everything sounding similar, which didn't happen to BJ until 2000. Although I do think they are quite talented, I think they have pigeon holed themselves into one type of sound, which people will eventually grow tired of.

guess who's never seen coldplay live in person.

No one can justifiably say everything sounds the same if you've gave them a same listen. if you took away martins vocals youd think all the albums were from different bands.

I really think you have to attend a concert before you pass that sort of judgement. I had (non-Coldplay) friends telling me to drink flasks of coffee before they come on stage to keep me awake, etc. but there’s never been any need. First-rate music, electric atmosphere, incredible stage lighting and effects. Anyone who found their live version of Clocks boring deserves to be shot. Even at the first Coldplay concert I saw (early days – when they were really considered ‘boring’ and before I was a real fan) they were superb.

Well thank you. I'm glad you're not the one who decides who actually is being shot, because the live version of Clocks did the same for me as their album version: Nothing.

I find them a boring, very overrated band.

you know as well as most people do that you actually need to be there to experience the full thing. Out of all the live albums I've got flickerstick is the only one who comes even remotely close to being as good on cd as they are on stage and thats because they are one of the best live bands you'll ever come across.

And you know very well that when seeing a Coldplay concert at MTV almost every night you're very well able to judge that band for being boring or not. You don't have to be there, since music comes first, at least it does for me, and when the music sucks, there's no way I'll find a band better or not. No matter how many lightshows and pyrostuff a band uses, music always comes first for me.

I was never talking about being them as good as on CD, as I don't have any CD's of them. But when I hear one song of them, I've heard them all, and their new single was no exception for me. And in my opinion, all their songs are boring, lame and dull.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
