Noted.

I used to think the same, but I guess the Live 8 magic did it's work.

Wouldn't wanna hear a whole CD though. I'll just stick to a few songs.

I used to say that before I heard x and Y. Really good variety of songs on there.

Well thank you. I'm glad you're not the one who decides who actually is being shot, because the live version of Clocks did the same for me as their album version: Nothing.

I find them a boring, very overrated band.

you know as well as most people do that you actually need to be there to experience the full thing. Out of all the live albums I've got flickerstick is the only one who comes even remotely close to being as good on cd as they are on stage and thats because they are one of the best live bands you'll ever come across.
You wanna hear Alchemy by Dire Straits then or Live and Dangerous by Thin Lizzy. If anything they were better live than they were on CD. Becky will love this, but I think Keith Urban is also better live than he is on CD. That version of Somebody Like You at Live 8 had far more atmosphere than the studio version ever did. I tend to prefer live music rather than studio recordings because everything is done real time and even if the songs aren't perfect you get a more natural feel to them. As for Coldplay I don't know, but they haven't convinced me enough on CD to even bother with the hassle of seeing them live. A band or artist must at least be decent on CD to make me want to see them live, like someone above said I wouldn't want to listen to a full album because I find Coldplay boring and I find Chris Martin's voice annoying most of the time.

No you are not able to 'judge' a band. All you can say is that you don't understand their music (not meant as an insult). Eveybody is touched by music in a different way and based on our personalities, experiences and emotions, we might find a band boring, shallow or incredibly fascinating.

I just spent several days on a remote island with really nothing much to do but keeping eyes out for eagles and watching the sailboats sail in and out. All the while listening to Coldplay, and I don't need to see a live concert of the band to find them utterly profound, insightful, moving and incredibly talented.

Nobody here is to judge about a bands talent or over/under rating. You either 'feel it' or not.

Ok. I don't feel nothing when I listen to Coldplay. They have nothing special for me...
