Like BleedingPurist recently put it, that is just "jaded" fanatism.
I found the review to be spot on, not overly negative at all. It's from a critic... ohhhh, it's gotta be a roast. Why? Especially...

Here, JBJ has turned his pragmatic nature into a virtue, both in the way he runs his business and in the way he allows its mundanities to connect him, however tenuosly, to the working man he spends much of his time thinking about.

If The Circle has an overaching theme, it is Bon Jovi's recurring one: the hope of escape from the quotidian. From Runaway and LOAP to WFTWM and Brokenpromiseland, it has run throughout his career.
Sounds negative? Maybe. But it's constructive criticism. And it's true. It's what art is about, escaping reality. I always found that to be one of Bon Jovi's strengths. So, in my opinion, it's spot on.

The next example. Why should he apologize? That is reading something into it that is not there. Jon is trying to make a point there to his counterpart - because he IS known for being the guy of a rock band. What is so hard to get here?

Thanks - for all these comments. These are my thoughts exactly and I don't consider myself a mindless follower here.

I love Bruce - as most of you know - but sometimes escaping reality is exactly what a rock show is about - it's FUN (remember fun - and yes that's a rock quote and I won't tell you where from). The Jovi shows I have been to over the years have been plain old fun. So call me shallow for liking rock at it's most enjoyable and mindless. I enjoy the band and I enjoy Jon's voice (most of the time). I can certainly complain about the setlists but with this album - quite frankly - I don't have a complaint in the world. I am looking forward to hearing it live. Will it change the world - nope. Will I enjoy it - you bet your ass I will.

I don't see how the lyrics are the best since These Days. They were better on Lost Highway really.

I agree with quite a bit of that review. The CEO stuff sums up my annoyance with Jon.

I don't really count Lost Highway as an official Bon Jovi album. I loved it, loved it more than most people on here, but the reason why I said The Circle has the best lyrics since These Days was that they wrote most of the lyrics on The Circle.

On Lost Highway I would say at least 50% of the lyrics weren't written by them, infact, they took whole songs of nashville writers, for e.g hillary lindsey wrote 'Seat Next To You' and played it for them and they just tinkered with it.
